One of the dancers in the video,”Secret Moneii” IS a stripper.

I found this article fascinating. It gave me a different perspective on Rihanna’s choices for the video. http://thehairpin.com/2013/10/rihanna-on-my-mind

So funny to me … Pour it up was our #1 requested song for classes and parties this past year. I guess it really depends on where you live and your market. We throw the fake money and everything. Rihanna has great music and you can dance to it. Sometimes I think people just need to relax, have fun,go with the flow and shake your ass a little. Lighten up!!!
But it does suck that she was wasted and they had to reshoot 🙁 I hope her fame does not lead her down a crappy path of drugs and alcohol.

the song it self i dont care for,i dont listen to that kinda music really, i thought the video was low class to put it nicely, but its just my opinion.

For so many adverse comments and reactions Rhianna sure is getting a lot of attention on SV..Im just saying!!

*Is this the “Tip Drill” video you guys are talking about?
Whether it is or not…ew…I didn’t like Rihanna’s video either but at least it had cool pole moves. This is just…I don’t even have the words.*EDIT: I removed the link because having watched some more of it, I was concerned I might actually get in trouble with SV for posting something that was borderline pornographic! Sure I found Rihanna’s horrible denim thong arse-shaking a bit gross, but this was really disgusting. I consider myself to be pretty open minded but honestly…it’s like feminism never happened. (The video I saw was by Nelly, not Ludacris, so not sure if it was the same one that Black Orchid was referring to)

I didn’t think anyone else knew the song tip drill. I bring it up all the time and everyone looks confused!

Awesome video in my opinion. Everyone will use pole fitness (dancing) in their own way. I wish I could move as fluent & graceful as Nicole does. And to have the opportunity to be in a video that will help to promote me and my business, I am all for it. To each its own, I hope to be able to gain the skills that will allow me to go “viral”…LOL

the video could have been cooler i wish they were in an actual club and made it rain. as for the song, it is sexual and about being in the strip club…idk why anyone is surprized at the way it turned out, what did you expect, rihanna fully covered head to toe? feminism is not about women being in control and ruling over men, its about equality for everyone. i just find it so hypocritical that women who pole dance are completlely upset by the way it was portrayed or try to separate themselves from exotic dancers, however they want pole dancing to be accepted but wont accept stripping as an honest occupation. how is rihanna expressing her sexuality a bad thing, what wrong can come from it…more women might do it??? if more women do it, it must be because they feel empowered and in control of their own body and sexuality. how can you expect people to respect your expression of sexuality if you wont do the same for others. twerking, or moving your hips, jirating, is not bad, your eyes wont explode…its kinda how we all got here
and for the person who made the comment about the carnival festival…shame on you for making a mockery of someones culture, including mine. we are all grown ass people, whats the big deal? -
kaygee if the feminism thing was referring to my comment, I was talking about Nelly’s Tip Drill video, not Rihanna’s. I had no problem with the pole dancing in her vid, the moves were impressive, I just found her denim thong and wiggling her business around with her legs in the air not to my taste 😛 The Tip Drill video is in a whole different league, and not in the least bit ’empowering’ it is literally just six minutes of scantily clad women being objectified by fully clothed men.

I tell a lie, 7 minutes.

the feminist comment wasnt a personal attack on character, and everyone is entitle to their own opinion. there are just so many forms of feminism that it cant be vaguely described. im a burlesque performer and have recently tried bikini dancing and im not ashamed of admitting that im a feminist nor that i dont care if ppl see my naked body, im from the carribean where women walk around topless and nobody gives a shit. just generally speaking, im just a big advocate for grown ass women expressing their sexuality/emotions/pride with their own body in whatever way they feel empowers and satisfying to them. i seen the tip drill video about 10 years ago when i was a teen, it was like watching porn. now i just think..well these women arent slaves they certainly didnt do it for free, this is no different than what happens in some strip clubs, or in porn. pornography is a legal occupation they didnt have to be there if they didnt want to. and nelly probably didnt make this video with the intent to please all his female friends. but imagine if the roles in that video were reversed..lol imagine how ppl would react. i guess im just not really bothered by explicity. im sorry if you felt that it was a personal attack, you cant necessarily interpret tones and expressions of feelings over the internet, but i am a very opinionated individual and i say how i feel.

I didn’t think it was a personal attack so no worries, just thought perhaps you misunderstood my comment. My problem with the Tip Drill video isn’t necessarily with the women themselves, as you say they’re doing it of their own free will and were presumably paid a fair amount for it, but the video itself I found quite horrible to watch and I found it far from ’empowering’ – in my opinion that word is thrown around too much these days. I never had an opinion of Nelly before but seeing that video has made up my mind! Anyhow this thread is about Rihanna’s video and now we’re off topic, so I’ll leave it at that.
