PDC Grading?
Posted by RikkiL on May 27, 2012 at 8:15 amI recently got my PDC membership and want to start grading. I wrote them with a few questions last week but haven't heard back from anyone yet. Have any of you done the dancer grading? Can you just start at whatever level you want or do you have to work up from Level 1?

I did the online grading, mostly so I could tell my students what it was like. You can start anywhere, but they have a limit (I think like 3 months) between gradings. So if you start too low & want to tackle the next level, you’ll have to wait.
Unless something has changed, which it might have. They’re unfortunately a bit on the disorganized side.

Thanks Pippi! I'd feel a lot better about sending them money if someone would write me back. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif

HI Ladies
Unfortunately the information doesn't always get through to everyone from our emails and messages but in the US you can all contact me. I am the US Ambassador and I can offer testing, answer questions, and get you started.
Payments are made through the main website to the UK management but I assure you that we will take care of everything expediently if you contact me instead of going through the UK since I am running the US programs.
You can begin at any level you wish and work your way up. The recommendation is 3 months between gradings so that no one rushes and does anything unsafe but if you are skilled enough to test for all levels you don't have to skip and start with a higher level. You can test them close together.
Soon everyone will be required to test all levels in order – as some people can pass an advanced level but still don't know the basics.

Thanks for the reply Empyrean. It's nice to know that someone is organized, anyway! So, you get one free online grading with your membership purchase – can I submit that through you or will it have to go through the UK?

THe online grading is done by our division in the UK for now but it should go quickly once you apply. I believe the first online grading is free. Do you understand what you need to do to complete the online grading?

Pretty much. I know what components they're looking for. I guess the 10 moves are just whichever 10 I want to do from the level I'm grading for, correct?

Yes, after your warm up, demonstrate the 10 moves individually then put them together into a routine – which can include other moves too – then do your cool down.
