We’ll probably need a bit more information to give you a better idea.

How many hours does she work? How many clients does she have? Does she pay other staff? How many classes are run per day at the studio? How much money does the studio make?

All these, and MANY many more, will factor into the wage that an instructor or owner receives.

where are you located? in NYC, for teaching only the average wage is about $60-$70 per hour for classes depending on experience.

The range here is $20-50 per class.

For someone running their own studio it may be less, especially when first starting out. I think it took the owner of Be almost a full year before the studio was self supportive.

Since you are saying they are "running" the studio, I think it really depends on other responsibilities too. Not just the classes.

When it comes to instructors (with no management responsibilities) I’ve heard of various methods. Some pay by the student, some by the hour, some by the class.

In our studio, our instructors are usually teaching with no ancillary or support staff so they have to come in early and leave after the last student. Additionally, we have things to set up and put away after class so instructors have to be there 30 minutes prior and usually 30 minutes following class times. Plus 15 minutes in between.

Thus we pay by the hour and as Chemmie said, pay scales vary based on your region.

Can you explain running the pole studio?
I am the head instructor and marketing director at mine and I do not get paid to do those things, I work on commision. Commision is great but it’s too hard to define and pay out.

The most fair way to be paid is a flat wage and logged hours. Establish an hourly rate for non instruction and a flat rate for instruction.

    Good luck with everything https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

The instructors at philly premier pole studio get between $40-70 based on experience for a 1.5hr class or per hour during parties. Although the desk, check-in, and scheduling are mostly done by non-instructors, the hourly rate for a receptionist is $10/hr.
The best way to figure out price in your area is also find out what local gyms are paying instructors for classes in spin, kettlebell, yoga, etc. Usually the more specialized a class the more the instructor is paid

When I was instructing at a local studio, the pay was $12 per hour plus $1 per student. Sometimes only one student showed up so I made a whopping $13 per hour essentially for a private lesson. Totally sucked but since I have a professional full time job with a great salary I did it for the love of it. We were strictly prohibited from discussing salary with anyone else on staff. I think some of the others made $10 per hour and some of the others made more if they had a cert when hired. When I began I had no fitness credentials but did earn an ACE group fitness and pole position fitness cert. I no longer work there and the pay is one of the reasons. I taught the advanced classes and I spent alot of my own time and money preparing myself to teach that level. The studios (Xposefitness.com) in my near local area charge between $8-$11 per 50 minute class. Sometimes you can buy a class for closer to $7 buck if you get a special. As a result, instructor pay is very low. I hear the Xpose girls make closer to $20 or more per hour because they have a lot of volume and the instructors earn more if they have more students.

    Hope this helps.

My instructor charges monthly … I assume that is normal. If we miss a class we have a chance to attend another but if we don’t she still gets paid. dunno how much

When you pay is it non refundable?

We do not ever refund money and we make sure every student knows this ahead of time, students who have to miss a class are encouraged to join an open class or come to an open pole to practice. This way since I am paid on head count I still get paid for my time.
