Its so hard for me to do anything anymore. Invert, catepillar, i could hold myself out to the side using split grip almost at a deadlift, split grip standing in front of the pole, etc. Its like my body forgot everything!!! Ugh im so disgusted. Plus, we moved pole studios, the ceilings are higher, poles taller, and i started back training on a 50mm chrome and OH MY GOSH i have to put my everything into gripping that thing. Im wondering how i started off on it.

Who else has fealt my pain?
    What should i do?
What should i incorporate into training?
    help please πŸ™

I’m relearning myself. And…. it’s been a very boring journey… I’m trying to “go slow and give myself time.” It’s just not as exciting the second time around. I practice less than I did the first time. It’s discouraging. I just keep training. Keep practicing everything I used to. It’s coming back. I’ve been back for 3 weeks? Idk…maybe not even yet and I almost did a shoulder mount today. Just got my caterpillar climb back today as well. It comes back and I’m right there with you. Hang in there!! We can do this πŸ˜€ I’m rooting for you.

Maybe focus on something different for a while?
Since I was never good at dancing and floorwork I took the challenge and am learning russian style exotic pole at the moment. It’s harder than it looks! Plus, it’s a really good core workout and helps with all the stuff up on the pole as well πŸ™‚
Also, your tricks will profit aesthetically too because you gain a better body awareness.

Have you tried the 30 day take off program here, to build your strength and technique back? There’s also my 30 day caterpillar program that’s a more advanced way to build strength! We can’t expect our bodies to get right back into all of the moves we once did. To pole with less injury and more progress a plan is so helpful! 💜

I definitely feel your pain… I’ve been procrastinating getting back at it for fear that I’ll barely be able to Fireman spin, and out of fear of my shoulder getting angry again.
However, when it comes to restarting, it can be an excellent opportunity!
If ever there were those “beginner” moves that you liked, but just “didn’t have time to practice,” because you were working hard on your butterfly or trying to get that scorpio instead, the restriction of your new beginning may actually be a way to get into those moves, and learn to incorporate them into your dancing the way you had once wanted!
Also, you can spice things up a bit by trying new styles (like tacha666 doing russian style exotic pole!) or different combos than the ones you had before, and seeing how you like them. If you always admired exotic pole, but never really got into it, now is a good time to give it a little go!
Working on frustrating poles is never easy… but you’ll get it for sure! And then you’ll never have to worry about your grip, ever again πŸ˜‰

    Good luck!

    See this link:

Check out Natasha Wang’s responses to questions 1 and 8. Whenever I’m feeling overwhelmed by my expectations and underwhelmed by myself, her words bring me back to earth. Hope you can find some peace in dance or some small successes to carry you through the tough times.

I also find that disconnecting from pole-related social media for a couple days helps ground me as well. The current online environment in pole is pretty psychologically damaging to even the most confident folks. Xoxo
