  • PS Star Stand alone Question?

My girlfriends PS Star Stand Alone pole has a problem at the base. The tack welds on the Star base have broken away from the Pole mounting piece. I can redo these welds but I can not get information on the type of metal that is used in these bases. The unit is 3 years old. There is no definition of the material that was used in the original documents that came with the unit. Does anyone have access to this information, or can point me in the right direction? She has a competition coming up soon, as such, these needs to be fixed asap. I really need to know what type of metal this base is. It appears to be steel with a black powder coat on it. If it is just cheap rot iron, I will have a problem welding this back into place. Please advise.

I have a 2 year old PS star stand alone and I have re-made a couple of the tack beads. I used 6013 MMA rod 1.6mm diameter and it flowed well. Looks as if PS used a standard structural grade of mild steel. If you only have MIG or that should be fine as well, I only used MMA because it is set up ready most of the time for odd jobs.
