    Hi,
I have just one tattoo on my lower back but I seriously want to get some more tattoos and I want to add a few piercings too but I need some advice. I don’t want to spend too much time away from my beloved pole classes, however, I do not want to jeopardise my skin or injure myself. Has anyone done piercings or tattoos since they’ve been pole dancing (or maybe just before they’ve started pole dancing).

I may re pierce my belly button but unsure since it’s already been done twice. First time, I did it myself as a teenager (stupid I know) and the 2nd time I had it redone by a professional piercer…I took it out after about a year but taking it out left a small scar. (This was ages ago-approx 3years ago for 2nd piercing).

Here’s where am contemplating getting tattoos (sadly they’re all point of contacts)…
    ankle/foot
    neck/between shoulder blades
    shoulder
    possibly inside left wrist
    hip?

For piercings: I am thinking of but not too sure of getting a Christina piercing down there… (why? God alone knows). Maybe I’ll get some sense and just pierce some more holes in my ear or redo my nose or something, but for some strange reason I want to pierce my girly mound (I don’t wanna do my nipples)

    Any help advice?

PS if anyone has a tongue piercing? How long does it hurt for and what about inversions etc if you just have one. Any advice on them…how soon can I put invisible ones on?

Any help, suggestions or advice will be appreciated

    Thanks x

Nope, using the pole does not hurt your tattoos. Obviously, you do have to keep that particular area off the pole until it’s completely healed. Luckily it doesn’t take long.

I have one on my hip, one between my shoulder blades, and one on my right foot exactly where I climb. I promise you if poling hurt your tattoos I would have rubbed all of them off by now.

And funny you ask. A tongue piercing is the only one I can think of that has NO effect on poling. I had one for a while.

I also have a piercing in my "lady bits" and this one I would recommend against. I like to do my pole sit, CAR, etc very high on my thighs and my piercing is uncomfortable. However, I manage, so it is all up to you and your own priorities.

I agree, I have a VCH piercing and It does get in the way when it comes to poling -I’ve had my fair few "ouchies"! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif

Are you ladies wearing a ring or barbell? I have a curved barbell. I also downsized to a 16g that has cute little sparklies on the barbell ends. (Yeah, my hoo hoo sparkles. Wanna fight about it?) https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif But the balls on the ends are really tiny compared to the "normal" size barbell ends.

Long story short, I found rings and "Standard" size barbell ends to be too intrusive for pole. Switching to something thinner and with smaller ends definitely made it better. If you were pierced at a 14g and don’t want to downsize to 16g, you can at least put smaller balls on the ends. But I would flat-out reccomend against ANY kind of ring. Tried that. Didn’t work out well.

It really does make all the difference in the world to just downgrade the size of the balls.

I got my tongue pierced a long time ago, long before I started poling, (so I can’t comment on inversions w/ a new tongue piercing) but it takes about 3 weeks to fully heal. (Luckily, mouth piercings heal super fast) The first 3 days, your tongue is really swollen and you can’t eat solid foods, suck through straws, smoke anything, etc. but after about a week, you can eat/smoke/drink almost normally.

After about 3 weeks, you normally go into the tattoo shop that pierced you and they will resize your barbell to a shorter one so that you don’t accidentally bite it and whatnot. At that point, you can buy a clear barbell from the tattoo shop and just have them put that one in for you. (Or if they don’t do this, you can just buy & put it in yourself, of course)

I have an issue of cosmo where they said not to get piercings down there because they’re "dirty" and collect germs. Which is bs. Yeah, your crotch is gonna collect germs if you don’t wash it. Wash your freakin crotch and your piercing won’t rot off. Duh.

https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif sorry, that’s just what I thought of when you mentioned cosmo. Interesting that they seem to change their opinion on everything depending on whether or not it’s on trend.

Hey! I just wanted to add my two cents worth. I had trouble with my belly button piercing while poling. That piercing never completely healed to begin with and would flare up all the time, but when I was learning the corckscrew, it got so bad that I eventually took it out. I would tear it a little each time I attempted the corckscrew. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif

I do however see no problem with getting your "lady bits" pierced. I wouldn’t recommend the christina though. The christina is considered a surface piercing as you probably know and has a high rejection rate. It needs to be babied so it will heal properly. One little bump on the pole and it could possibly reject or greatly increase the healing time. I have both a VCH and a HCH and I would totally recommend a VCH to start with. I love my piercings! Both healed so fast (one or two weeks) and with NO problems at all! I agree that pole sits and the wrist sit can be a little uncomfortable, but my non-pierced friends say it’s uncomfortable for them too so that may be inevitable. I’ve had my VCH for a little over three years now and have never had a problem with it. I’ve been poling for a year and it has never gotten in the way, limited me, or been ripped on the pole. I actually forget I have them most of the time. I agree with all the other ladies on here too that for a VCH, a barbell is soooo much more comfortable than a captive ring. Oddly though, my HCH is more comfortable with a ring. I guess you just have to play with it (lol) and find out what’s right for you and your body.

I love tattoos!!! I totally understand the need for more body mods and worrying about it interfering with pole. I have this debate almost everyday. I have a tattoo on my upper rib cage and I simply couldn’t invert on that side for about two weeks while it healed. I actually went to pole the morning after I got it and it was fine. After two weeks it was good to go and I could do whatever I wanted on the pole. Maybe when you go to get a tattoo, either put it somewhere with minimal pole contact so you can still do other pole moves that don’t require that body part or expect to take a week or two off.

I’m excited for you and I wish you the best of luck in finding the perfect next body mod! Let us know what you decide on!

Yeah I agree with the tattoos – I’ve since had another tattoo after starting pole (a big thigh piece) and just kept that leg away from the pole. Also I had to keep minding that after a couple of weeks, even though any scarring was gone and it wasn’t really sore, it was still quite tender and very suseptable (sp?) to pole burn for a good couple of weeks after that!
