It really helped me to look down at the floor (like drop my chest forward) to help me learn to get my booty back. I learned on static.

I’m only 5’1″ and I can do this spin. I just do the reverse grab starting with some good momentum swinging my left leg around. Then at the end of the spin I focus on wrapping the pole with the inside of my left leg. The trick for me is to start out with some good momentum. Practice it first by kind of walking through the move first. This is my favorite spin. 🙂
The move I’m having big problems with is the chopper. I feel like I will never get that one.

And I'm only 5ft and I can do it too. Took me ages to get it and I found that I really needed to push away from the pole with the bottom arm when doing the reverse grab bit. So try really focussing on pushing out with the bottom arm, this gives me enough space to get my leg round the pole.
Hope u get it soon! x

This position is kind of difficult for me because of my lack of flexibility in my shoulders. I can get into the position but I REALLY have to concentrate. Empy helped me a bit on this and she said that you really need to bring your upper body lower than you would think. Sticking your butt out would really help with this!

I can't do it from stationary from the floor even. I've tried all sorts of crouch positions, bringing my chest to my thighs, etc. I think it's the length of my torso to my arms and legs. I've had teachers in workshops try to help me into position, and it's never worked for them either!

I found it helped to make sure you have plently of momentum to get your hips out enough. Your chest is lower than you norm would need and after I warp my leg around I sorta "sit" down into it a little. But for most people it is a matter of getting the back and sholder flexibility up there.

great advice https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif i'm going to try it. i haven't really tried this spin before (well, tried and could not figure it out, and gave up). missdirdybirdy's lessons are good, they even have slow motion. thanks jessesgirl!! i should be able to figure it out now, and will also try getting into it on a static pole as amy and all of you suggested… thanks ladies! 🙂

LOL https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif I did some practice yesterday and was able to get the position, now just need to get into and keep the spin going at the same time. i actually loved this position as a way to really stretch the chest and shoulders. surprised i'm not more sore today….

Try wrapping yourself on the pole in the finishing move. That is how I learned. It helps you to realize how you should be on the pole in the end of the trick. From there find the easiest way to get into that position while moving on the pole. Hope I helped!
