You cannot tighten loose skin BUT…. what I’m saying IS… it might not be just loose skin. I was hell bent on saying that I had all this loose skin, and was doomed. I mean I’m not a big person so I figured thats what it had to be! I still have some loose skin, BUT because I have lost body fat around my middle, and have learned to hold my abs in a way that makes it tight, it looks almost normal (until I bend over, then its all wrinkles and rolls.) https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif I do believe its possible for skins elasticity to recover to some degree. I was really stretch out with my 3rd baby, it took over a year for me to look like I did 5 months after Henry #4. It can take years for skin to go back, and by go back I don’t mean to the original pre baby, but I’m saying I know first hand the skin can get better!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif I would hate for you to spend a ton of money on a procedure when it might only be a matter of time. Stress like losing your father is huge…just give yourself more time. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

I already gave my 2 cents but I wanted to put in a big ol’ AMEN! and DITTO! to what Veena said – all of it.

to cut or not, what a dilemma.
I’m not the tiniest, yet I’m lucky to have finally got over my body image. Being late 30’s and having a husband who thinks I’m beautiful no matter what size I am has made a huge difference.

    I’ve yoyo’d form 50kg – 120kg, at 5’9 that’s going from skeletal Angelina to big Kirtsy Alley.
There are a couple of things I’d happily change, but they don’t bug me, and they are….
If my boobs get over an F cup, then I go on the waiting list for a reduction.
And before you all go, no that’s fat gain, every time I shrink, I gain cup size and it stays, already at an E.
Ergo no running for me! I’d also love them to be perky, but no, they can show me where my toes are when I stand up.
and I can see what a facelift would do, but there’s no way that’s ever happening. Not when I still get ID’d for alcohol (at nearly 38 I’m pretty happy about that! Esp when legal age is 18)

However, these aren’t important things. I also have a puku*, which like Veena, sticks out over my yoga pants, which is bad as my parents both have / had CVD.

Pole has helped me lose weight (20kg to date over 18 months), and I totally agree with Veena that slow and steady via good nutrition and exercise is the way to go. Surgery is the quick option, but does it address bad habits?? Fix that nasty sugar addiction? Address the body image psychological issues you actually need to address? Our society is addicted to the quick fix, but that doesn’t break habits.
Surgery has it’s place, but ensure you’ve done everything else you can first.

however, as I’m now working at Ministry of Health, the fat over the lower abs is there to protect your uterus and other reproductive organs. Therefore, if it doesn’t shift, there’s a deep-seated biological reason for this!
and if anyone wants any boob flesh, I have far more than I need, to spare!!!

*tummy. the bit that hangs over, the muffin top etc. Maori for tummy. Gotta get te reo into the site somehow!

All the women in my family carry their weight in their stomach area and it’s a huge problem area for me. I am self conscious around my boyfriend too even though he says he thinks I’m fine and loves me the way I look now blah blah blah. .

Hey glitter, I know exactly what you mean, except its my dads side, he is a circuit training instructor and eats very little but has always had a tummy. My mam even offered that if I got real skinny and still had a tummy after I was 30 that she would pay for the surgery herself as it seemed so unfair.

I’m overweight now but when I’m thinner I still look about 3 months pregnant, I have no bum hold all my weight around my stomach! its awful, I’m such an apple shape and I knwo what you mean about affecting pole moves, alot of moves seem to require balencing of the body and its hard to do this when your weight is all centred, I need to wear leg weights and alot of the time my tummy prevents me from bending over the way I should and I feel I will never get the cross knee release! I have saggy skin and stretch marks on my tummy and I’ve never had a baby! However you ahve to think about the plus side. my legs are lovely and I wouldnt change them ever!

Glitter you have a lovely face and I always say I can loose weight and have a more beautiful body but people who aren’t so lucky to have a good face can never change that. I used to get so down on myself then one day in the car my dad said, "wow, imagine how unhappy you would be if you were ugly!" I’m not being nasty, It just helps sometimes to focus on the best bits! I still fatasize about the flat tummy though…

Ok so I think that there is some misunderstanding on here…I know for me I am confident in my body even though there are two things that I will be changing. I would not ball up and cry day in and day out if I never had it done! I am more confident now in my body then I ever have been. I don’t look in the mirror and go "gross"!! The easy way out?!?!?!? WHAT?? This has nothing to do with weight loss!!!! I don’t view plastic surgery as a means to weight loss! You mean to tell me that if your boobs were so diflated and hung so low that it caused irritation on your ribs to the point where it hurt to wear a bra and the doctor said that the only thing to help that is to get a lift….you wouldn’t??? That dosen’t sound anything like weight loss to me! As far as my belly goes….the lower skin is so stretched out that I have very little sensation in it…and I can’t tell you how many times it has gotten caught in my pants zipper!!!!! That shit hurts! I repeat..this has NOTHING to do with weight loss!!! There is no slow and easy diet and exercise that is going to help this! I agree when it comes to loosing weight, diet and exercise is definitly the right way to do it!

I’m sorry if I am coming across as bitchy or rude…but everyone is different and you can’t truly & totally know what it is like to be in someone elses shoes!

I was glad to hear another side of the debate. Every ones opinion matters and having different opions gives others the opportunity to took at the situation from all sides.

I can fully understand that there are times when surgery is the best option and can greatly improve an individuals life! I say if go for it, moreso if you are having irritation and a doctor has recommended it.

Girl I am seriously considering a tummy tuck as well. my babies were both over 9lbs and im only 5ft tall https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif , they stretched my skin so bad that it seriously is NOT going back to normal. I also dont have much sensation in it either. It looks disgusting. Its all extra skin too, if I could get it cut away it would take prob 2 inches off my waist, at least! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif So from someone who knows exactly what you are feeling, id say do what is goin to make you feel less conscious about it. Im not at all embarassed about my stretch marks or anything, but I also KNOW that the skin is NOT ever gonna be even close to what it was, regardless of how much i work my core, it simply has lost all elasticity, like a 5 yo scrunchie. To have a "butt" in the front of my body is not hot! So Im choosing to get rid of it! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

kind of glad im not rich cuz ive already got about £200,000 worth of surgeries planned and have been since i was at least in my early teens if not younger. Eyelids, laser eye correcting, nose job, chin implant, boob job, liposuction everywhere, bum lift and more lipo, calf implants, veeners, gastric band. Im sure as new stuff is invented so my list will grow. I wish I could be one of those ppl who feels happy and confident as they are but after almost 27 years and still hating everything if I had the chance to change everything tomorrow id jump at the chance. Maybee itll change as I get older, i dunno, but if it makes ppl happy and feel better about themselves then go for it.

if this is something you are truely looking into here are some very medical centered things to keep in mind:

CONSULT THE CRAP OUT OF YOUR SURGEON!!
HE is interveiwing for the right to work on your hot little bod, not the other way around. If he claims he’s certified byt medical board XYZ…go to thier website and you can check or find the number to call and check him. Your body is a temple…dont let the highschool janitor work on it.

KNOW WHAT YOU ARE GETTING INTO!
If at any point during your multiple pre surgery visits he or she starts using some medical jargon you dont know…SPEAK UP! Smile and nod are the most dangerous things you can do in a doctors office.

    SET LIMITS!
Set price limits, time limits, personal boundries. I looked into a breast agmentation when I was younger and dumber but I would NOT get over the idea of a surgeon going in via armpit or navel so I ended up calling it off (which was good that I was stubborn because I was being stupid)

    POST SURGERY—HAVE A PLAN!
Do not expect to be up and moving around when you get home. You will be groggy, drugged up and not exactly feeling a million bucks. As much as you want your family around you when you feel yucky….recovery days are PERFECT times for the kiddos to go visit grandma. It is totally unrealistic to thing you are going to provide care for anyone other than your damn self when you feel like frankenstein.

I havent’ been under the knife myself but I do many surgical and post surge rotations so if there is anything medical I can help with let me know!

I have to add to Hockey_Soldier’s post. Any surgeon worth his salt should have a portfolio of before and after pics. Once you find an accredited one make sure the look of his patients is the look you’re going for.

I personally am all for surgery. If you can afford it and you want to take the risk, why not? When i get to my goal weight and I still have my DD’s (I think according to the bra size chart my 42 DD’s will be 36 E’s by then) I’m getting a reduction. My sister had one and it’s made her verry happy. It would be so nice to be able to wear a sports bra or even a tank top without having to think structurally. (Or having a massive strapless bra.)

And also I wanted to point out that a tummy tuck may not be what you’re looking for. Panniculectomy is where they JUST remove the hanging fat and skin, they don’t touch the muscles like they do in a tummy tuck. The recovery time is much shorter and it’s a lot easier on your body. That might be something to think about.

check out this site, they have information about what questions you should ask a surgeon and how to find a qualified one. http://www.yourplasticsurgeryguide.com/

    Good Luck!!

I’ve also been pretty open about my self inflicted wounds. I carry scars that make me very self-conscious. They have procedures to fix them. Some people may look down on this as well by saying "well you shouldn’t have done that to yourself in the first place". There have been many events in my life that brought me to that extreme. I was only 9 the first time I did it. I feel that chapter of my life is over and I have a constant reminder of each of the moments in my life that I was completely out of control. It can be a reminder of how far I’ve come, but each one has it’s own terrible story of pain behind it. Imagine carrying around with you an open book of your pain for everyone to see. I want to put all those memories behind me and move forward, yet every time I look down there it is. I plan to get them fixed one day as well.

I actually just had the second of my treatments for scar removal for the same thing. I have self inflicted wounds from when I was younger all over my left arm, wrist to elbow, and I had the same thoughts of "its over, I don’t want to be reminded", as well as the fact I hate everyone asking about it, or judging me – especially since its so far in the past. Luckily my dad has a good friend who is a dermatologist, so he is doing all my treatments. It basically involves a laser being run several times over the area, burning tiny holes just about a millimeter deep into the skin. As the tiny holes heal, the skin is stretched out, so over time the scars are pulled out, broken up, and start to fade. After two treatments I can already see a difference, but it will take several more before they are near gone – and I won’t lie, its a pretty painful procedure. Even with topical anesthetic you can feel some burn of the laser, and it feels like a sunburn for a day or two after. IMO its worth it though, I just really want the scars gone.

I was wondering if anybody has had breast augmentation AFTER they got into poling. I wanted to know about the differences in before and after, in terms of strength, endurance, etc. I mean, there’s the obvious "hey, suddenly there are big ole knockers in my way!", but I wanted to hear about other experiences. I had also heard from a fitness instructor that she never fully regained her strength back after getting her boobs done (she didn’t really care, though, she was very happy with her procedure). Anybody have any stories?
