The brass stage was okay yesterday at the pole jam as it was hot out in the sun. But it still felt a lot slippier than the brass star stage there. The grip was completely different as did the way teh metal looked. Same with the brass xpert at home, much more slippier than my TG. Nothign like the brass poles I've danced on before.
Does anyone else here think the brass x poles feel different from all the other brass poles they have tried? I've tried the brass poles at several aradia studios as well as brass platinum stages and I love them all. But so far I'm disappointed in my brass x poles, espeically since I've been super excited and bought both a stage and an x pert. I really really want to love it.
For people to own a brass X pole, does it get better with age? Does it ever get like other brass poles?

I made a video showing what a real brass pole looks like, and how to clean it. You can view it on my profile or at this youtube link. Hope it helps!

Thankyou lizzy!! Great video!! I've been too scared to use Brasso on my xpole cos I used it on the top once, near the dome, and it made it go a really lighty gold/silvery color, but thats gone back to normal color now, I also don't want to risk making it slippery. It also doesn't tarnish up like yours cos its only a 'brass finish'

Brassi in Australia is different to brasso in the states. Just sayin’…

Brasso is a combination of an abrasive and a solvent. It should be used with care on any dance pole. The solvent will not come completely off and depending on the composition of the brass may cause the pole to be stickier or more slippery. Abrasives should also be used sparingly and with care on any surface regardless of composition.

thanks for the advice! Still too scared to use brasso will stick with glass cleaner, seems to clean well without effecting the finish

I just wanted to throw it out there in case anybody is still looking at the brass xpole and thinking "Y U SO SLIPURY!" I managed to get mine up with a piece of plywood on the ceiling and noticed hey, it's kind of slippery for a brass pole! I hit it with EZOFF oven cleaner, let it sit, polished extensively with paper towel, now it has a much shinier and stickier finish. If anyone wants to see pics they shall be on my profile!

My brass pole is always slippery on my leg until me and the pole are warmed up.. It only takes a few minutes of climbs etc to get those legs nicely heated! Otherwise have you tried ? That stuff is a life saver when i just want to get in and do something 🙂

Just got my 40mm brass xpole. the first thing i did was wipe it with acetone. then i rubbed it with metal polish to remove the slippery coating and it worked wonders!

Hey, ive got a 40 brassy and use glycerine from the chemist. I was so lost and now am found.. Its actually become too grippy!!
-
Me too, PoleDollqid. I have a brass pole and a stainless steal. Bought brass first…..still love it….but it is too grippy at times. If I had to choose one over the other, I would choose, stainless steel….and it's less expensive : )

Just an update on my brass: I was down in Erie this weekend and picked up some Corn Husker's lotion for $2.99 as some of the ladies suggested. I put a little on my contact points and my pole and now it's SO GRIPPY. Easily as grippy as a polished brass pole. I'm really happy with it now.
Corn huskers is a glycerin and alcohol based lotion, so I guess this is echoing the advice of donnalee and PoleDollqld.

Don't suppose anyone knows if there's an equivalent product to corn huskers lotion in Australia? heard so many good things about it, would love to try it.

Question about slippery poles and itac:
Since so many posters here are writing about slippery brass….thought I might find a target group for my question: Anyone try itac levels higher than 2? I recently bought itac (level 2) which is recommended on the website where I found this. I figured this would be a calm grip. Not too grippy. I LOVE it. I find that it really helps me control my moves on my stainless steel pole and I can do more moves. So now I thinking I might want even more grip and should move up to a higher level of itac. Anyone try higher levels than 2….and if so… did you like it? Also….I haven't even tried itac on my brass pole. I can still slip on my brass…it's not that sticky….but do not know if itac will hurt the brass. Is itac only for stainless steel? (Not finding information on the actual itac container about particular pole metals.)
