I gave birth 6 months ago to a sweet little baby girl…. and came away with some wicked tummy stretch marks! As any mom knows, they are worth it… but not something I want to show off.  They weren't really a problem since I figure I'll just get a monokini or tankini instead of a bikini and I'm still super sexy to my hubby….. BUT…..

I just got my DREAM opportunity to potentially be a pole dance instructor. The only problem is that I dread going in front of a class of girls to teach them with this tummy of marks.  Who wants to stare at my tummy 🙁    I need it exposed for moves like gemini/scorpio, jade, etc. etc. etc.   I don't know what to do.  I have DD boobs so I need to wear a sports bra for dancing (so a monokini is out)…. I'd love to wear a tank top with side cut outs over my sports bra so that the navel area was covered but I still had some exposed skin for doing moves.  Anyone have any ideas??  Or encouragement.  I'm so proud of my post baby body… if it wasn't for these stretch marks, I'd rock a bikini right now!  Stupid marks!!!!!

If I was your student, I wouldn't think anything of any kind of stretch marks! Heck, I've got them! I haven't even had a baby yet! They happen, and they're just a part of being human, and being a physical entity- the fact that you have a wonderful child that you love, and a man that you love and who loves you back, and that you're doing your DREAM job… THAT is what's important!

Stretch marks? Bah, I wouldn't even notice!

Best I can suggest is getting some higher waisted shorts, if you really feel you need to cover up, and then fold them down if you need to for certain moves. That's only if you're feeling you HAVE to though.

And, keep in mind that the stretch marks will fade over time. I've had mine since I was about 18, it's been 9 years… my boyfriend says that he would never have noticed them if I hadn't pointed them out. No one has ever said anything about them! Even when I've got my pole shorts on (I have some on my hips and thighs), no one says anything… I don't think they even notice them. They're more interested in what I'm doing on the pole!

The PoleFit fold-over shorts are great for this, I’ve found. You can pull them over your navel completely, fold them down at either side for specific moves, they stay put. I’m a rather body-conscious new mommy poler too, so I can confirm. 🙂

At Sweet Vixen you can have it custom-made … I'm also DD, but small in the hips.  I don't have stretch marks, but I do have C-section scar from navel down.  I'd bought another romper, but either the top or the bottom didn't fit.  Also, I've used a monokini, with shorts over, and sports bra under.
