    Hello Girls and Boys!

How many of you keep a pole journal? I've been keeping one for 3 years and it's one of the only journals I've actually kept for any length of time. Infact, it helped me stay on track when I was training for my first competition.

I'm considering having custom pole journals made, think a moleskine-style journal but with pole as a main focus. I want a section in the front for goals, dated entries to track my practice/cross training and to log my stretching/flexibilty, as well as sections to jot down notes on pole videos and music. And of course a cover embossed/printed with pole moves.  Basically a place to log all my pole stuff. Afterall, they say it takes 10000 hrs of practice to become an expert. I want a place to track all the stuff I learn throughout my 10,000 hrs and beyond.

Anyone here interested in one, if I get some custom made? The place I have connections to has a minimum order of 500 copies.

Also, if you are interested, what sections would you want to add? What do you put in your pole journals that you find you can't live without?

    Hi,https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

    I love that.

What about songs to pole to?

Studio locations: local and when travelling.

You could even go further and do and app for pole journal so you can add your pics or pole videos.

Those are great ideas! I also talked to my bf about make a program for me to track my pole progress. But I realized it needs to be more portable, and I read somewhere that writing things down my hand actually reinforces  your intentions and that many successful people actual keep a journal of some sort. Something about the brain needing to process the information, so it becomes more of a reality.  I dont; remember where I read it though so if anyone has research or info to back that up, let me know.

Sounds great! I'd buy one! Lou Landers has just started selling hers here in Aus: http://www.loulanders.com.au/polegoalsdiarypreorder

A phone app diary would be awesome too!

I love the idea of keeping a pole journal – I've been keeping a record of my progress since I started two years ago but only started writing dated entries in a portable journal since April.  Keeping a physical journal with me and writing down what I did each day has been SO HELPFUL.  Sometimes I forget to record things right away, but I am pretty good about logging my activities on Fitocracy (although I rarely go into detail about what I actually did) so I use that as reference to keep the journal up to date.

One thing I do that I've found to be extremely useful (especially for a dated journal entry format that isn't divided into sections) is to use highlighting.  For every new move I get or new success I achieve (like becoming an instructor and teaching my first class, for example) or even each performance or competition I participate in, I highlight it in pink so it stands out as I'm flipping through.

And here's another good thing to keep track of – injuries!  Even if I know I'm probably not injured, I will make a note whenever something doesn't feel right.  I highlight these notes in blue.  That way, if whatever weirdness or pain I'm feeling doesn't go away or comes back after a while and I discover later that I actually am injured, I'll be able to easily look back and see what might have caused it and exactly how long I've been feeling pain.  Otherwise, I'm not going to remember since I practice every day – it all blurs together after a while.

I find keeping a journal keeps me more motivated!
I use an app called Dance Journal.
There’s entry space for tons of stuff even a section for dance routines steps and videos!

I find a journal keeps me motivated too, Jasmin46. I kinda feel like I "owe it" an entry if I skip a practice. And I love the idea of having a place to put mental pole things, like blogs i read or elements I liked from the latest comp.

I want to get these journals out just in time for the new year. The big question: plain old black printing, or hot pink? 😛
