Hi everyone,My husband said he would buy me a crash mat for Christmas, and I think I've found one that is reasonably priced and, well, good.  Its dimensions are 48" diameter and 4" thick. Is that big enough?  I'm a smallish person, only about 5'2", so I can't imagine I'd need something larger, but was hoping someone could give me some advice.  I'm new to pole dancing, just started a few months ago, and at age 39, the bruises just aren't healing as fast as they used to!

Also, while I would like to cover every inch of my body in MIghty Grip protectors, I"m thinking of getting the ones for the inner thigh, because, well, it hurts there the most!  Has anyone used these and can tell me if they are worth it or not? http://badkittypolewear.com/inner-thigh-protector-p-121.html

    thanks!

Hi Shimamd…..I have the same size crash mat your planning on getting, I got mine from US Pole Mat….the shipping is FREE!!!  I'm 5'6 and I thought it was going to be to short, but it's not….remember if you do fall you won't fall straight flat on the mat…Now, as far as grip aids, I have them all….I bought the inner thighs, hands, arms and feet….the only one that I did use was the gloves, which I still use…..your skin will get use to the pole burns/kisses….I use iTac for every part of my body, except my hands…for that I use mighty grip or dry hands….but trust me in a couple of weeks you won't feel the pain….and remember everytime you do a new trick, you will have a new bruse. The best advise I can give you is: feel the burn and love your pole kisses!!  Good Luck and I'm glad you joined Studio Veena….you will love it here, everyone here is so helpfull and friendly!!!

thanks so much for your reply! The Mat I was looking at was the same one you have, from US Pole Mat — best price I was able to find out there, and I spent lots of woman-hours searching.

And I do know what you mean about your body getting used to it. When I first started spins the skin on my hands was ripping off, but it's gotten much better. And today I was able to do a pole sit with only have a moderate amount of skin tearing, redness and pain. haha.  Part of the problem with static holds on the pole is that I'm in Massachusetts, and it is COLD here now.  I noticed that when I did, say, a pole sit mid-way up the pole, I could stick okay, but when I tried the basic plank lower on my pole where it was colder, I just slipped right down. Then when I tried it higher up, where the pole was a wee bit warmer, it was easier to stick. I know it's only going to get colder in the next few months, so I'm wondering if the MIghty Grip protectors with tack would help me stick to the colder pole?  I see you're from Florida, though, so you probably always have really nice weather for pole.
