Pole Pals
I have been fortunate enough to find several girls in my area to pole with. It happened by accident. Jenn found me on youtube. She thought my home town of New Port Richey, Florida is where I live currently. Having family there, she proposed we get together to pole next time she was down. I looked her up on myspace and noticed she lived about a half hour away. Jenn introduced me to Charley who is near her & Monica commented on Veena that she also lives in our area. Now we have this little pole community. I really feel pole pals are extremely important. We challenge each other to try new things & motive each other to keep at it when we can’t get something. It brings the Veena environment to the outside world. Before meeting these women, I was home alone all the time. My husband works out of town a lot. I stay away from the bar scene making it difficult to meet new people. All I did was work and go home to an empty apartment and my pole. Now I meet with them about once a week or so and I started teaching pole classes with Charley on Tuesdays. I actually have a life and I’m enjoying my down time away from my job.
I would like to propose a search engine for Veena. If there was a way for everyone to put in their town and see who is close to their area, maybe it would give others the opportunity to have a pole pal too. Something like frappr.com. Just a thought. Let me know what you think.

I have been pretty lucky that I started this little pole adventure with a few girlfriends, it’s definitely been a huge part of the fun for me.
I’m so happy for you BBB the way things are working out with your pole talent and teaching others. Wish I was in Florida!

I like it, Berty! I actually had a similar idea myself, because I’m one of those people who has no pole pals. Sascha is the closest to me, and she’s a little over an hour away when she’s at school (about 3 from her hometown). So far, she’s the closest and that’s just a bit too far to try to get together. :-/
If we can’t have a search engine like Berty said, how about a map or something with "pins" with usernames on it? Or lists of states, etc. with the names so at least the field is narrowed? Anything like that would be fine by me.
And if possible, if we get this option, could we have privacy settings that our specific location isn’t visible on our profile??? Like we show up in a general area or a mileage radius on the search engine but doesn’t display the exact town or whatever. I’m personally from a small town, I don’t mind saying I’m from the Southern Tier of NY but other than to the more trusted friends I have on this site, I don’t like getting more specific than that. Saying I’m from Xville in NY is different than saying your from something like NYC… you know what I mean???

awwww guys, I had thought of this a while back……its way to labor intensive RIGHT NOW for webmaster. I understand. I can only imagine how much it takes to get a site like this up and keep it running. The forum sounds like a good idea too. We could post by state.

Wellington, New Zealand is where I am and I have no shortage of poles (11 all up) having a studio with Lisa.

I think a forum section would be great listing us by state for those who wish to participate.

How about adding a search button in the members section? Or would that be too complicated?
Or… add a topic to the forum based on location… a folder for USA, UK, Aus, etc, because we are all from different parts of the world! Then further threads titled by region. That way, if someone wants to be contacted, they can voluntarily add their info.

Would it be possible to just add another (optional) section in your location details for the state that you live in, as well as the country?
You can already search for members by country and there is already a section to list your town, you just can’t search for it. I’ve tried entering city names in the keyword search that I know people have listed as their city, but it doesn’t return any results.
I assume it’s a lot easier to set up a search function if it’s searching within a certain section… so if you had a state category in everybody’s profile you could set up a search function to search within that category without too much trouble (I think) because the code is already all there to search through countries – you could just replicate it and change it slightly. It would be really cool if you could search through cities too, although I appreciate what a massive entity this site is and what a headache it would be trying to dig through all that coding in order to do anything at all.

I think a ‘Location’ forum where people list where they live would be a great idea for now. This site is already so awesome and I cant imagine the work that goes into it!!!
