  • Pole Set Up on Carpet

We had new carpet installed about a month ago in the room where my pole is set up. After not having to worry about it on old carpet, I find myself being concerned about what it will do to new carpet. I did put some old fabric underneath pole base due to reading about grease ring possibly on carpet. We took pole down today and there was a grease ring on the fabric, so glad I put it underneath pole base.

My question is, there is the hole indentation where pole is, which was to be expected. If pole is moved from one location to another, does that hole eventually go away?

I don’t want to freak out too much as I enjoy pole exercise so much. So I’m having to accept the fact that I may have the carpet "pole hole" in the middle of the room forever? I wanted to put something other than carpet in that room, if even a small section in the middle, but it was getting difficult, so we went with carpet again.

    Thanks for your responses!

I usually set up and tear down my pole with every practice (because I have to use the living room), so my response might not be very valid. I have left it up for a few days before though, and the indentation in the carpet went away after a day or two. I recommend vacuuming the spot when you take it down to fluff the fibers back up. I think as long as the fibers aren’t cut or ripped out, they should come back up. Don’t freak out too much! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I have always used carpet. When moving out of old apartment, I had a pole indentation so I pored a little bit of water on it and moved the carpet around. That was up for two years though. Some people have vacuumed it a few times and it slowly comes out.

Like Philly said, pouring water on it will help it regain its shape. You could also use ice cubes – but them in the indent, that way you don’t dump a gallon of water on the carpet by mistake and end up with mold growing under the carpet or something. The ice cube trick is a common one in the real estate world, I guess.

In the mobile home I used to live in, however, the dent didn’t come out after a couple of months, even after using ice and steam cleaning it. But that carpet was one of those thin ones with short, rather stiff fibers. I had also left my X-Pole up in the same spot for about a year, only taking it down to clean it. So my situation is a bit extreme https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif I miss poling on that carpet, though – I could wear heels without clacking whenever I walked and I could do elbow stands, etc. much more comfortably.

I generally leave my pole up all the time. The carpet is probably 2 years old. Took the pole down the other day as we weren’t sure if the landlord was coming over. I was surprised at how deep the indent was. I’ll be really surprised if that ever comes out. I think if I keep it in the same place, at least there’ll only be one pole hole rather then many.

I’ve been in two different apartments with two different poles (one lil mynx, one x pole) that were both up for about a year w/o really taking them down. The indent went away with a bit of work. I scrubbed at the carpet with a wash cloth to get the fibers moving a bit. Then I did the ice cube trick, followed by more scrubbing. I did it a couple times and then vacuumed and it mostly came out. I’d guess it is all out now but I was moving so I can’t say for sure. It was mostly gone when I moved out of the places.

Thank you all for your responses. I don’t have a choice but to keep pole up and deal with "pole hole" in the carpet if it ever comes down for any reason. Pole has been down for 3 days and I think carpet is slowly coming up https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif We got Berber which is not plush and on stiff side, so might take longer. Haven’t tried any of the suggestions cuz pole is going right back up.

Now I wish I’d gone the extra step and had laminate wood flooring laid in center of room where pole is and carpet around it. Even if pole came down, I’d still have a place to workout with weights, exercise mat, etc.

We had our original wood floors refinished over a year ago, but the two side rooms are converted garage and hubby wanted carpet in them. It looks nice and I knew pole was going in there, so pole or no pole?…POLE!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

There’s an upside to having old things, but also nice to have new, clean floor/carpet. Our livingroom is the only other room pole could go in; however, it’s tinyier than spare room and ceilings are not as high. So, there, decision made https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
