So I have a friend who lives in Chicago and has tried pole once and decided she wants to start taking classes at a studio.  She asked me for studio reccomendations and since I've only been to a studio in Chicago once, and it was for a teacher training not a class, I thought I'd ask you all for reccomendations.

She's looking for someplace that emphasizes the fitness aspect of pole and has little to no emphasis on the dance/sensual side. She's a gymnast who is also currently taking parkour classes, so someplace that would allow her to progress at her own speed would be good (she'll probably cover the basics quite quickly).

Any thoughts or reccomendations would be appreciated!!

Chicago is huge.  Do you know what part?  There are numerous studios.  Here is the only complete list I am aware of: http://www.midwestpoledancing.com/MidwestPoleSchools.htm#Illinois

She said that anything east and north is good.  Sounds like distance isn't really an issue.

I'm out in the far Northwest Suburbs at Intrigue Fitness. http://www.intrigue-fitness.com/location I'm the studio owner.  Our students have a curriculum to follow, but they progress at their own pace.  That was one of my complaints with taking classes when I started, I was always sitting around waiting for others to catch up. We are definitely fitness based.  It may be too far for her to come regularly, but she is always welcome to come visit and check it out.  The Midwest Pole Dancing link chemgoddess1 posted is the best list of the studios here.

Thanks for the information! I sent her the link to the studio list.  LindaLu – did you preform at the Wisconsin Pole Showcase at the beginning of May?  I think I met you there.  I'll definitely send her the information for your studio – I don't know how far she's willing to travel.

Yes, that was me!   Did you perform also? Were you at the pole jam?  Trying to figure out who you were. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I did perform! I did the routine to the Kid Rock "All Summer Long" song.  I wore a cowboy hat, cutoff shorts and a bikini top for my routine (figured the outfit might be more memorable than the song https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif).  I unfortunately couldn't make it to the pole jam though.

You were awesome!  I definitely remember the strength in your routine and the outfit. I remember the abs too, but not sure I could pick you out of a crowd.   lol.  Hope to see you again sometime 🙂
