    Happy New Year, everybody!

My sister-in-law has expressed an interest in learning pole dancing and I'm trying to help her find a good pole studio in her area. Ideally I'd like to help her find a place where the classes are fun and the instructors are knowledgable about body mechanics, proper technique and safety issues. It's really hard to evaluate studios just from their websites though, so I hope all you ladies can help me out here.

They currently live in Santa Cruz, but will be moving closer to the city later this year–probably somewhere around Mountain View. Can anyone suggest any good studios in either area?

    Thanks so much!

Poletential!!!  It is in Redwood City (a quick train ride from Mountain View).  It is where Amber, Amy, and Ottersocks teach.

There's also a studio in Campbell called Sedusa Studios. They only do class in a series format while Poletential allows you to do drop classes.

    Thanks for the suggestions, ladies!

I was talking with my sister-in-law some more and it turns out I was wrong about where they're moving. They're actually planning to move into San Fransisco proper (Mission area) come this summer, not Mountain View. My bad.

Are there any good options closer to Santa Cruz or San Fransisco? Poletential looks great, but she seems unenthused about travelling that far to attend a studio. I haven't looked into Sedusa yet.

    Thanks again. =)

If she's moving to the city. There's a pole place called the "S" Factor around the Persido/Lower Pac Heights area and a Sedusa in South San Francisco. I don't know how S Factor's classes are set up (I did a bacholrette pole dancing class there 3 years ago) but I'm sure they have info on their site.

The Poletential ladies are FANTASTIC, but if your sister-in-law can't make the drive, she should look into Shelly's Pole Studio: http://www.shellyspolestudio.com/, which is in SF proper.

Shelly won 2nd place at USPDF West Coast and is a spitfire and a really funny, warm instructor. Her classes are very affordable too.

I was also going to suggest Shelly's studio if Poletential does not work out.  I met her when she won 2nd at USPDF West Coast 🙂

Awwwww, thanks for all the Poletential love, ladies!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gif

We are about a 30 minute drive from SF, and Caltrain comes to within 1.5 miles of our door. We have quite a lot of students who come down from the city and we've been able to hook some of them up for carpooling. We've also been known to pick them up from Caltrain before class!

In the city proper, S Factor and Shelly's studios really are her only options. Other ladies on here can tell you about S Factor. Sedusa is in South SF, which is another city about 10 minutes drive south of SF (not a part of SF itself.) They only do 5 week series classes and are very focused on sensual dance. Their South SF studio is quite small and has limited offerings.

There are no pole studios at all in Santa Cruz. We've got tons of ladies (and an instructor) who drive "over the hill" to pole with us.

If your sister-in-law wants to come check it out or ask questions, feel free to put her in touch with me– ellen@poletential.com  https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Thanks again, ladies, for all the info! I've sent my sister-in-law the link for this thread. Hopefully she'll make her way into one or more of these studios in the near future. =D
