Have you ever thought of writing down a set of principles and rules your student have to stick to when they come to your studio and attend your pole dance classes?

I was thinking of doing it, and the owner of the venue I started my courses in asked me to do it beacause he is not able to manage girls, their questions, their requests and complaints.

    So..the time has come!

I'm going to write dow a draft (courses policies arrival, misbehaviour, unspotted trick and climbs..) would please share your opinion?

    🙂

    you totally should

i made one when i had my studio

    1. please no loud talking  if you are waiting and the class before you is not done

    2. no coming too much in advance, some were showing up 45 minutes before time!

    3. clean your pole at the end (cleaning 8 poles between classes is not cool)

    and many more…

I unfortunatly had to kick out 2 ladies once…it was that or loosing a few good clients

    A few thoughts:

–don't attempt to do a move/trick/spin until you've been shown how to do it properly… no jumping the gun, so to speak

–make sure you're wearing clothes that cover your bits (I've heard of unfortunate incidents happening)

Standard that is probably on every website FAQ's is no lotion and no jewelry.

I don't know if I would write rules for an entire studio but I will for sure make sure that my students know what I do and do not expect from them.  Some things that may irritate the piss out of me may be tolerable to another instructor.

Always pick out a dress code for your pole studio. Some places are fine w/ sports bra and tee, others (like in LA and Miami) encourage students to dress sexy like in a negligae(with boobies and girl stuff covered ofcourse:)) Anyway, some places may be more modest.

I.. would be mildy offended by a rule sheet.  Especially misbehavior.  Like, "Don't do it without a spotter" on the wall is one thing.  Safety rules are cool.

I'm not going to wear no panties and big leg shorts, scream in the room, bring my 7 kids in, or make appointments and then miss them, but I don't want to hear about how I can't, either.

Just like signs in the doctor's office, they are just somehow annoying.  If someone doesn't have the human decency to be considerate, no sign is going to make them be so, but you are going to annoy the normal people who don't want to feel like they're in gradeschool. lol

We have a rules and policy sheet that all students sign at orientation.

Amcut I can see your point but my experience has been that we head off a lot of problems before they start by having them sign the rules. Now if we put it in place after someone has already started classes, it's not going to change anything but I've never found anyone who was insulted by signing it.

Maybe it also depends on how it's presented and how it's worded?

However, we have to put it in writing so there are no questions when someone doesn't call or show up to class or expects make ups or refunds when not due.

I can see signing them beforehand.  I think it may be signs in particular that bother me.  Also, I prefer Policies over Rules and the words conduct and misbehavior are big turn offs.

Granted, I'm a weirdo, so my opinions are quite easily ignored.  Heheh.

Just had a chance to go back and read your "Class manners" Amy…that's very well done!

Actually our rules and policies are listed on our website here:

Pole class ettiquette should definitely be adddressed somewhere.  It's actually helpful to new students who have never been to a pole class before to have an idea ahead of time about what is expected of them and what to expect from others.
