    Hey ladies (and guys XD)

Very new to pole dancing, am currently doing 2 classes a week and loving every damn minute of it so far XD

I made the desision to buy a pole and after talking to my instructer I was talked out of the X pole, although i still think this would have been my best bet, and have gone with the Pole Fit Pro pole. I havent found any reviews for this pole so was wondering if anyone esle had heard of it or used one. I paid 60 pound for it which seems a bit cheap to me but it was off ebay so not sure if thats the right price or I got a good deal. Any feedback would be appreciated https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dllViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&item=260383358544

Also the only place I can mount it for space reasons is my kitchen. Ive seen ppl talk about laminate flooring, hardwood and carpets but my kitchen is tiled so will this be a problem with mounting the pole as I dont want to put my windows through or break any bones if it falls down XD

the poles i’ve heard of and used (x-pole, platinum stages, and lil mynx) can all be used on any floor surface. the reason they are more money is because they are strong, durable, and safe. out of these 3, having tried the x and lil mynx, and heard about the platinum stages, i recommend the x. the x is also non invasive (you dont have to screw it into the ceiling) and portable.
i personally wouldnt spend money on a pole without knowing that it is safe and is good enough to take a beating.

many people on this forum have purchased the peekaboo or electra pole and have either had the pole fall, have been hurt by the sharp edges, had it not fit to their ceilings properly, etc. to get a good pole, you have to pay a good price for it.

i have never hear of that pole. but from the picture/video it seems that the seperate pole pieces just slide together (like peekaboo). the x pole scres together so there is no movement between each piece. the lil mynx has a threaded compression system through the entire legnth of the pole, and this on only has a sprins on the top pole piece. these 2 things make it seem to be not the best to me.

and on the instructions of how to put the pole together it says that movement of the pole when your swinging on it is fine and normal. i dunno about that, the 3 poles i spoke of do not move at all (unless they are speccially made to be really tall, they may).

i would be carefull when you get this pole. if you do put it up, try pulling and tugging hard from every direction before you spin or swing on it. but it sure smells like a peekaboo type to me.

the x-pole is definitely worth the money if you are serious about pole dancing. what did your teacher say about it that talked you out of getting it? what pole does she/he use??

This pole seems to be the same as the peekaboo, electra, and pole aerobics pole. You see chances are there’s one or more companies manufacturing this style of pole and many different labels used to sell it. I’m sure I could make a killing selling a "Studio Veena" pole from this company….but I care about quality and safety which is why I chose the X pole. I can’t see it up close, but it sure looks and goes together like all those other crappy poles. Why did your teacher recommend a cheap pole like this over the quality X pole?? Platinum stages and lil mynx are better pole too. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif They are not my first choice for poles but they both are good options.

Our instructer I assume uses the poles at the venue where our classes are. She told me that the X Pole was over priced for what it was and suggested the carman electra one or a pole fit pole. But after reading reviews on the carman electra one i know i wouldnt buy that one.

    The poles we use there are kind of home made. They are scaffold poles and again I assume its due to the very high ceilings in the venue. They are securely bolted so am confident to use those but practically not usefull for in the home XD Im not making them sound very good so heres a pic of what we use http://poledancing.wetpaint.com/photo/849035/-" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Ive found various reviews on this pole that I couldnt find before, mainly as it seems to be marketed under various names :S Most reviews seem to be positive BUT nothing recent :S

Think im just gonna have to wait for it to arrive and see what happens. If I dont feel safe then ill just use it temporarily for the basic spins (as i am really not going to be doing anything advance for a long time XD) and strictly no invert practicing untill i can afford to get the X pole.

I really hope this pole is good enough to hold you for your spins. I dont know if a pole that cost £60 will be durable enough for you to invert on. Please be careful! I hope Im wrong but I think maybe the name Pole Fit Pro is just another name for the carmen electra, peek-a-boo & pole aerobics poles. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif

Sounds to me like that deal is too good to be true but maybe I’m just being pessemistic. The following is just my opinion but I thought I would share:

When I decided to buy a pole, I did a lot research because I’m not only putting my buck out there for quality and value but also my own SAFETY. And I like my brain so I’d rather not jog it around by falling off a cheap pole! All of the dancers who I respect and are doing difficult tricks which require a good, stable pole are using the X-pole.

I have heard a lot of complaining about the Lyl Minx from people who had it unscrew from the ceiling and are having grip issues because of the finish. I know three people who own one and complain about it all the time. I have tried it and absolutely HATED it https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumbdown.gif . And it requires a ceiling fixture and doesn’t always have a spin option. So I ruled that one out.

I don’t know too many people who own a platinum stages pole BUT I also don’t hear too many people rave about it. I recently danced on PS pole and didn’t like it too much, much prefer the X pole.

Lastly, I DO hear a lot of people say good things about the X-pole, I love mine, I have never had a problem with it, the spin option is great, it doesn’t require a ceiling fixture, and it’s easy to take up and down. I tend to believe you get what you pay for and I’m willing to pay for safety, durability, and quality so that I don’t end up having to get another pole later on down the line. Had Studio Veena been up and running when I was looking to buy my pole, this is definitly where I would have bought it. I didn’t get the perk of free shipping https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif Also, I trust and respect Veena and I know that she would not be selling something that she doesn’t believe is the best quality product out there. She uses them exclusively herself!

Just one person’s opinion, take it for what it’s worth! Happy and safe poling!

This is going to sound extremely bitchy…but why would a licensed instructor talk you out of a professional pole for it being too expensive? I think paying $300 to ensure you will be totally safe on the pole is not too much to pay…not to mention the pole is portable, non invasive, and switches from spin to static. I think X pole is one of the more reasonably priced poles out there as I’ve seen some that were more expensive that didn’t switch from spin to static and also had to be semi-permanently mounted. However I havent heard anything about this pole so it might be just as good as the X pole…but if it is the carmen electra pole or peekaboo pole please be careful!

I would say if your instructor suggested either the carmen electra pole or this one then they are about the same quality. If you read the "why Peekaboo SUCKS" topic under the dance poles forum, you’ll see why. I had a carmen electra pole for a week and only did spins on it and the joints started to bend and made a sharp edge that hurt my hands and knees when I slid over it. I put up pics, too. I even went the extra lengths to bolt it to the ceiling and screw it to the floor (and it’s not even made to be fixed to the floor at all). It never came down on me, but it still sucked and I didn’t feel safe doing any moves on it.

A little over a week ago I finally had it and ordered an x-pole, which I just got this past Friday. I’ve only had it over the weekend and the difference is amazing. It’s very decently priced for the quality, and the fact it’s removable and goes from static to spin mode is great (removable would be a plus for you if you end up needing to put it in the kitchen). A similar pole that Platinum Stages makes costs a hundred US dollars more.

Veena also has an article about buying a quality pole from the March newsletter you may want to check out. Compare the pole you get to the pictures and descriptions. She used my pics of the carmen electra pole and pics of her x-pole. Just save all your packaging and receipts…

    Point in case:

Looks like an x-pole at first, seems decent quality…yeah, it’s NOT. So dangerous. Natasha Richardson just died of a similar injury…

we have 8 permanent poles at our studio and 2 xpoles.

Elite is the lowest we recommend, although x-pole is the way to go.

My husband trained as an engineer and he is really impressed with the x-pole from an engineering viewpoint.
I wouldn’t get anything that is spring loaded, most of these do not support spins and are only good for prancing around. Which there’s nothing wrong with, but that’s not what Pole is solely about.

I think your instructor gave you some very bad advice re the pole.
I would ask them why they think the x-pole is overpriced and bring in the pole they recommend for them to do some spins on to show you how safe it is.
Anyway, since when has safety and quality been overpriced???

For NZ, the xpole is $1100, which is about 300quid and $5 – 600 USD. They are still popular and our girls are still keen to buy them. 60 quid is nothing in comparison to what we pay and I’m pretty sure tescos had those poles on sale about 2 years ago for 24.95 quid… you may have been ripped off.

Thx for all the feedback its appreciated.
I have decided I am def saving for the X pole and will fit the pole fit one temporaily.
Will def not be doing inverts on it and will cautiously do spins.
Feel a bit cheated now as i feel i just wasted £60 that I could have put towards the X pole but you live and learn I suppose https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Oh good!! I hope they refund you without hassle. I believe it was Jacq who called buying these cheap poles the "stupid tax" https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif So it sounds like you’ll avoid that tax. We all just want you to enjoy poling and most of all be safe https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_safesex.gif it will be worth it!

Im sooooo glad to read that you’re returning your pole and getting an x-pole! Your instructor shouldnt have told you to buy that other pole. I know she was trying to save you some money but would you put a price on safety???
If you buy your pole from Veena you get free shipping! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
