I am using my vaulted mount as a flat mount at the moment. Are they just out of stock?

X-Pole have multiple mounts and have recently added Ball type mounts in both standard and vaulted types. The vaulted type can be used for both a standard and Vaulted ceiling as per the older versions. The reason for the change to a ball is to allow the pole to flex evenly in all directions which the older mounts did not.

Whilst an X-Pole can be used at heights such as 12′ without a fixed mount we strongly suggest that anything over 10′ (3m) either a fixed mount or a ceiling plate are used. Especially with today’s direction towards more extreme moves!!

Every pole installation is different and the factors affecting installation change. As per the thread ceilings are different (Concrete, steel, wood, just beams, vaulted etc.) and also the floors (Carpet, Lino, Wood, Concrete, Sprung dance floors etc.) and all of these affect the stability and operation of a pole – it does not matter who the manufacturer of the pole is!

We often get comments like my pole has slipped and find that it is on a ‘Thick pile carpet’ or a Wood or Sprung floor. Both of these, once the dancers weight is added to the pole make the pole de-compress, by reducing the pressure on the ceiling allowing the pole to move.

It is for those reasons that we strongly advise using a ceiling mount or ceiling plate. Safety is paramount.

The ceiling plate is very simple. It is just a circular piece of wood, screwed with one or two screws into the ceiling beam (so there is virtually no disturbance to the ceiling and you can paint it the same color as your ceiling – reducing its ) that the upper dome fits over. This stops it from slipping.

It is easy to make and use and X-Pole are currently producing some so that they can be purchased as opposed to having to make one. They will be available in the new year.

    We hope the above helps

We made a circle celing mount at my old home and it worked, but we don’t want that up in our living room in our new place. It seems the flat mounted ones are out of stock until mid December. 🙁
