What is your ceiling made of? Do you know if there are joists or studs in the ceiling?
-
mmmm it’s made of a kind of strong plaster… and i think there is no joists or studs in the ceiling,
what do u think?I don’t want to fall down and open a hole!!! so, maybe I have to find somewhere else…

I have the same issue. Whether it would work or not was so iffy and after researching extensively, my answers were still pretty vague. I gave up and bought a stage pole. I’m now in line for the new platinum stages pole with a very small base as opposed to one you could actually fall off of. It sucks, but it’s the price I pay for a cheap apartment.

I sort of have the same issue. The ceilings in the basement we are refinishing are "suspended" ceilings. What I ended up doing was adding extra support between the two joists with 2×4’s and then drilling a piece of thick (1 inch) plywood over all that. I have yet to be able to put the pole up, but I am pretty sure that it will be fine, but I will defiantly let you know.

Oh i have the exact same problem. I’ve just ordered an X Pole to go in my new apartment. Went to see the apartment today and te ceiling is totally hollow. I’m gutted. Looked it up and X Pole doesn’t recommend using them on false ceilings. Although, apparently some people have done it without incident. Not sure if it’s worth the risk! I’d imagine repairing a massive hole in the ceiling would be costly.

Have had a look into the stage poles, not keen on those, and aren’t the very expensive. Don’t think I could afford one. Scraped together the cash for a new XPert X Pole, now might not be able to use it at all… :,(

I would be worried about the injuries it can cause… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

Haha true. I’m willing to put down a few cushions ad take the risk, but don’t want to risk destroying the landlord’s ceiling? Is it actually likely that the pole could damage a ceiling??

Have you checked to see if you can find a stud/joist?? Have you tried the knocking method? If your ceiling is plaster a stud finder wont work right, so you will have to knock. If your positive there are no joists then you can’t install a pole. YOu have to have a beam/stud/joist to place a pole under. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cyclops_ani.gif

Thanks everybody!!!! Ok, so I think I would install it in another place!! Or in another home…. hahaha!!!

I don’t think i’ve got anywhere where the ceiling is suitable in my apartment… and can’t move for another year! This is terrible! What do i do?! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif

Mmmm…. What I’ve done is to convince my cousin to do pole dance (and put the pole in her home…) Maybe you can find a friend or familiar who wants to try poling… Is all about persuation!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

That’s not an option for me unfortunately for lots of reasons. Im thinking I may have to go for an xstage instead. But not only do i think they are much less attractive, but with the podium and my fairly low ceilings, i’d have to get it cut down, so it wouldn’t have much height to work with. Is it worth it? It seems like my last option to have a pole…

How high are your cielings?

I’m not sure, like 8 and a half feet? Am going to pop out some spot lights and have a look tomorrow, but im pretty sure the joists are 2-3 inches above the plasterboard :'(
