Sorry if this has been asked before–I skimmed through the forums and I didn't see anything specific about it. I'm planning to put up my pole in a room where I have a rug (not a wall-to-wall carpet) covering most of the space, and I'd like to put my X-pert on top of that instead of stuffing the very pretty rug in the corner. Will that be safe? Will the tension from the pole keep the rug in place so there's no slipping?

I recently did a pole party at someone's house and I brought my X-pole along for the ride. They had an area rug that covered most of the floor and I put the poles right on top of it. They didn't move at all. Now some of their furniture was also on the rug (on the edges). I don't know how much of a difference that made, but the rug remained steady. If I were you, I'd put the pole up and do a "test". Pull on the pole using your body weight and see if it stays put. If not, then it's a no go. If it stays then try a simple spin. If that works then trying a spin with a little more momentum. If all of that goes well then you're golden. Also, do you have anything under the rug? Is it just hard wood underneathe or more carpet? If it's just hard wood, consider investing in a rug mat to put under the rug. That'll definitely help keep it from slipping.

I agree.  I've put my X-pert up on an area rug before without problems, but you definitely want to make sure it's adequately tightened and give it a gentle to strenuous test before really using it.
