I have never found a protein drink that doesn’t make me gag (thick smoothies and milk shakes also make me gag, it’s a sensory thing) but I know I really need to increase protein as am training 5+ times week and am now very low body fat and starting to lose muscle mass. 🙁 I do not want to lose any weight.

    So my question is…
Can I just eat a few big handfuls of raw nuts for protein after training instead and wash it down with water and a banana? I really don’t have time to prepare special drinks or snacks after training as am usually rushing out door still wet from shower afterwards…nuts, water and banana are transportable.

@tropicalpole, I don’t know if it fits into your diet plan but hard boiled eggs are excellent. I just boil a bunch of them at one time and then keep them in the fridge so if I need a quick protein boost I can grab it and go

That’s a good idea! Thanks Lucca.
I find I have no appetite straight after training then hungry about an hour+ later by which time am usually busy driving to collect son from preschool or whatever. I guess I could stick a hard boiled egg in a thermos flask to keep it cool and stick it in my purse…

I hate protien shakes as well… But I love accelerade (orange). It’s not a protein shake, it’s a recovery drink. Thicker than a regular sports drink but not grossly thick.

Anyway, I drank it when I did p90x years ago… And just started using it again. I love it.

AboutTime isn’t too bad on flavor and doesn’t seem to have the gag-inducing aftertaste of some of them. It doesn’t contain artificial sweeteners and flavors if that makes a difference to you.

Eating protein (hard-boiled egg, nuts, etc) is also good, but the thing about protein shakes is that they deliver the nutrients to your post-workout body faster. There are 3 types of protein powders and whey isolate has the fastest delivery time, I believe. It is broken down further than the other two types so your body doesn’t have to waste as much time breaking it down for delivery.

    Hope this helps!

I have been doing shakeology for over a year and love it. Lost weight with it and have had many friends with same experience.

Just wanted to let you know, the samples arrived on Tuesday, so 10 days from the UK is totally acceptable. Tried out chocolate / coconut and totally LOVE it!
chocolate is nice as well. Need to try the other flavors!

I hope they respond quickly to my questions about wholesale conditions.

I like the It Works ProFIT protein powder. I really like that I can bake with it – so most of the time I make homemade protein bars to have after my workout instead of having a shake.

I use herbalife and am also a health coach. Depending on your goals would depend on which option as far as the shakes go would best fit you. As there is one for weight management and one for the “24 athletes”which basically for those who are actively and consistently working out or active. Just my 2 cents since I’ve worked in the nutrition industry and fiancé owns a supplement store….as you guessed there are not specific pole products but by marketing they’re saying hey this is a lean protein (bc pole dancers are most likely women who don’t want to bulk) that will help your muscles recover (bc pole dancing is a tough workout and you need to repair those muscles). There are a bazillion products out there so the most important thing is to decide what your goals are/what you want out of the product and make sure the sales associate knows these goals if you’re in a store….unfortunately this can sometimes mean an acquired taste depending on your diet restrictions. I personally feel that taste is not the focus here (although trust me I wish it was) because I’ve seen so many women get something just bc it tastes good but is the completely wrong product for their fitness/diet/health/weight goals… Prioritizing taste will most likely mean you’re getting extra calories/sugar/fillers/chemical additives. Mainly what I mean is look at the ingredients before you buy to make sure you are ok with everything that’s in it – you might be surprised at what is legal and “safe”!! If you decide that taste IS the most important factor, you could be better off getting your protein from a whole food source which gives you full flavor or by adding unflavored protein to your food. There are a lot of great protein recipes you can make at the beginning of the week to have when you need it. Just keep in mind that even protein is adding to your daily nutrients so needs to be taken into account just like any other food it’s not a “freebie” like a lot of people think. If you’ve cared to read this far you could ask yourself what are my health values/concerns, do I have diet restrictions, what/when do I normally eat and when do I plan to use the added supplement (morning, midday, bedtime, before/during/after workout, at home/on the go), what are my weight goals (gain/lose/maintain), how and how often do I train, what is my budget, what is most important/what am I willing to sacrifice? I could go on and on about protein lol but this will help eliminate “the bad” options and determine the right options for you. And sorry this was more like 10 cents 😂

Have you tried carnation instant breakfast? It has 13g of protein in one serving and has a variety of flavors. You can buy them premade or as a powder and add milk. I personally prefer adding my own milk.

Or if you can’t do dairy, ensure clear has 7g of protein per severing and both flavors are tolerable as long as they are severed chilled. Ensure clear are more like juice, but have a mineral-y taste when warm.

You can buy them both on amazon and I know grocery stores carry carnation instant breakfast.
