Thoughts on the rules re grip aids in PSO events? I understand the no grip aids can be applied to the pole directly, but the “residue” rule begs the question of what would leave residue after wiping with alcohol (they give the example of chalk).

What does everyone think? I really want to compete in one of these events but want to be clear.

Star advised to go cold turkey and use nothing to prepare…

I think that is a great rule! Some products leave such a mess on the pole that u practically need a razor blade to get the gunk off. IMO u shld be allowed to apply product to ur body only…not the pole. Just my two cents 🙂

Hey ladies, I wanted to clear up anything about this rule, so ask away as I am one of the organizers.

    1. We want everyone to be as safe as possible, and some grip aids like chalk or firm grip really leave a film on the pole and so we can't allow those.

    2. In the interest of time, as we have 75-100 people performing per day, we can't have the pole cleaning take a huge amount of time (which would happen if we allowed pre application of grip aids to the pole or ones that leave a residue and have to be scrubbed off), otherwise we'll never get through everyone that registered! To provide as many people as possible with the opportunity to be onstage, time is of the essence to our event.

Does that answer everything? Feel free to respond if not 🙂 xo

So something like itac would be frowned upon?? I also want to compete this year, but I have the sweatiest hands you could imagine, so its a given I need more than just mighty grip. is there a list of approved grip aids?

at Ms VA last year, we were first ok'd to put grip on the pole well iTAC was put on the pole but they were such a pain to remove all the itac that we had to stop the competition for 45min so they could deep clean the poles.

There are no grip aid restrictions if you want to apply to your body. Just nothing can be applied directly to the poles.
