Personally it doesn't bother me to be compared to a stripper. I simply correct people when they assume that I am, just because I am not one, but I am rarely offended by this unless they start making rude comments.
A long time ago when I used to go to pole lessons, one of the girls in my class was a stripper. She was also a single mom of two who was struggling to make ends meet providing for her kids because her deadbeat ex-husband left them. She was trying to put herself through college and didn't have the time to work 3 jobs. But the one thing she could do was dance. She said she actually enjoyed stripping and it made her feel strong. She didn't feel sorry for herself, and though she never advertised the fact that she was a stripper, she didn't hide it either. She came to class for some "me" time and to make friends and learn a trick or two (I think the girls in their club just danced but didn't do any tricks). I got to know her as a person the brief time we were in the same class, and I thought she was a pretty cool girl, who, but for a twist of fate, could have been me. Honestly, I don't judge. There's a story behind everybody and I think strippers probably have a much more interesting story than I do. And really, it all boils down to all of us just having a passion for pole. Whether we choose to do it athletically, artistically, for an audience, with clothes or without, should it really matter to another pole dancer? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif
As a personal choice, I might strip if I were dealt the same cirumstances in life and was backed into a desperate situation a well. I don't know. I wish I had enough confidence to know. If anyone wants to see, much less pay to see my alter-ego "Slimer" naked complete with food baby and F.U.P.A. then maybe I just might. Lol! I just know that the next boyfriend is gonna be hella lucky that I have some secret skills up my sleeve https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

Since i cant delete what i wrote an explain lol… I didnt say that towards anyone specific. I just saw some ppl were kinda… not happy about some things written on here by some ppl. I know we are all suppose to state our opinions…. If its negative, then it shouldnt be written is all. I just think its silly to have petty arguments that dont mean ANYTHING.. …Oliviaaa i dont think you were trying to say anything bad. we all do what we love to do and screw what anyone else thinks. My first inspiration was seeing my brothers gf ( a stripper) perform. omg she was SOOOO gorgouse! And one of my pole idols. Karol Helms was also a stripper. So if people think I am one then Oh WELL! I can just think of those beautiful ladies who inspired me. I gives no F***s…=) Im gonna unfollow this post so any negative comments to what i wrote… Waste of time =p

Oliviaaa, my response was not aimed at you.
We have yet another person trying to troll our site and stir up the masses. It was not until I read all of the other comments that this person wrote that I decided this was his/her intent.

My stage name would be Scopio Almaden….hrmmm not very sexy https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif

I have an idea so that people don't think posts are aimed at them unless you're actually talking to them. Put @ then their username so there's no confusion. And if we ignore the negative person attempting to stir up drama, they will eventually get tired and go away since they aren't getting what they wanted which is attention.

Yeah i didn’t notice anyone getting upset with you Oliviaaa…I think people were upset with a different poster.

@Oliviaaa -sorry, I just got up and have not had coffee yet. "I didn't see any negtive in your post other than a funny thougt" – Meaning I didn't see anything negative in the post period. Not that the funny thougt was negavtive. 🙂

As a registered Nurse with two degrees behind me….there is nothing else I "wanna be".

This is such a supportive community that comments like saying we are "wannabes" is sorta sad yk. To each his/her own.

As a former exotic dancer and now ' just' a pole dancer I believe that I am qualified to give the opinion that the two are COMPLETELY different. Yes it is true… there is lap dance, a pole, sexy costumes, 'stripper shoes' involved BUT the difference lies not just with the audience- it lies within the dancer themselves. When I was working as an exotic dancer, I danced for SOMEONE ELSE. I danced for money. I danced to be sexy- FOR THE MEN who were paying me. Now as 'just' a pole dancer I dance for ME. I dance because I love it…because it makes me feel sexy, confident and free. I finish a workout sometimes and truly feel like I could fly. Pole dance has reshaped my body after having a child and given me incredible strength and confidence. Working as an exotic dancer is a JOB, And obviously there is an element of nakedness involved. Pole dancing does not involve nakedness- we need the minimal clothing to stick to the pole. There is such a massive difference, I wish I could put it into words better.
I dont think there is anything wrong with the ladies (or men) on here from wanting a stage name. We are PERFORMERS. PERFORMERS HAVE STAGE NAMES. Think about it- most singers have stage names- actors etc…..Many of the pole community film themselves and create videos for here or on youtube- they are PERFORMERS….A good example is Jenna Marbles on Youtube. She is a very famous youtuber, but her real name is hardly Jenna marbles right? why? because she is an entertainer and performer!! In addition to this, some of us want to get our name out there as pole dancers or have aspirations to turn pro in the future and this will protect our privacy.
