Pole supposed to behave this way? (second-hand second guessing)
I bought a second-hand X-Pole Xpert and now have some questions concerning it, seeing how I'm not sure I trust the person who sold me the pole to begin with and feel some iffy things going on with it.
1) Is the pole supposed to feel as if it rotates around two axises while in rotator mode, or is it supposed to be as smooth all the way? Now, if I grab the pull and twist it just a bit and release, it returns to the position in which I grabbed it.
2) The three "adjustor locking screws" that are to be screwed down toward the bottom, and not on the thread-part of the (naked) pole, but between – one of the screws I cannot get inside, and one just falls all the way through and inside the pole. What gives?
3) If I push and pull the pole back and forth while standing–well, I'm not supposed to be able to do that am I? I'm quite sure I've locked it into place both too tight and too light several times over, but every time I can push/pull it so that the part in the middle, starting from almost the bottom, can move a bit back and forth. Normal?

I don't know about "normal" but my xpert doesn't do this. Most poles have a little bit of flex but shouldn't be "moving" exactly. The screws should be going straight through the pole to lock on the flat parts of the threading. "falling through into the pole"… I don't even see how that can happen, just puzzled trying to picture it, unless maybe you got screws mixed up (spin mode lock screws on the adjuster or something). All the xperts I've used had a small settle spot on spin mode when no weight was on it, but too much of one was an issue I had with one of them. Overtightening can make it worse. Do the "roll test", rolling the pole on the floor to make sure its not warped or bowed, and contact x pole for some trouble shooting tips. If its something you are doing wrong, they should be able to guide you. Good luck!

Are you sure 100% this is an xpole? On top of the dome I side the silicone ring should be a serial number. What you are describing is not normal and I cannot even figure out how the locking screws can fall into the inside of the pole as the adjustor rod is a solid piece of metal.

While we are on the subject how does a pole become warped or bowed I would hate for that to happen they are so expensive. How can I prevent things like this?

The main cause I have heard of it is from overtensioning. Not sure about high velocity spins if you can permenantly bow a pole from doing them….

You can easily start by looking at the bottom plate, are there two x:es (180 degrees spaced) printed on it? If not, this is a fake pole. if yes, continue by verifying that serial number on the dome.

Fake X Poles also have those X's now (I think Lyme's pole has them). That is no longer a valid way of knowing.

Looking at the bottom plate won't tell if it is an x-pole, but it could tell if it's not (in case there are no x:es). So in case of no, he shouldn't even have to examine further.

Gypsy: I think I was unclear – the problem isn't (as in the video) that my pole is "shifting", but rather that is shifts side to side in the same direction which I push and pull, not around the axis, but back and forth, like in a straight line.
Chem: Hm, but a serial number doesn't say much if I can't verify it anyway, right? 😛
Concerning #2, there are two longer screws, and three short ones (+2more) so I doubt that the longer ones which I now use to switch between static/spin mode should be used for the three holes. Or am I perhaps missing screws?

When I've tightened it to the ceiling, I did have more space to tighten it harder, but felt that probably wasn't a good idea. But perhaps I should? I mean the way I have it I can shake it and twist around it quite fast with all my body weight, so I felt it would just become warped or destroy the ceiling somehow if I took it a step further…

Call XPole. They can tell you what size set screw belongs where.

Non of my poles behave that way in the second video…I have an Platinum stages, ill minx, and an x pole.. I would call xpole and ask them.. I would speculate that the pole is unsafe with all that give??

Is this pole a true x pert (the X perts have the x joints and are bottom loading) or is it threaded? The threaded x poles are the original designed that have the counterfeits out there. They are top loading. The x perts haven't been ripped off yet.
