I have 3 pups who have issues with chewing on virtually everything. With the shape of my house there is no way to keep them out of the room where my new pole will be (just ordered!). any tips on ways to protect it from chewing? I was thinking maybe trying to fit something like a pool noodle over it, but those things have such a small interior it would be tough… Any suggestions are appreciated!

My dogs don’t chew but I didn’t want them licking the pole because of grip products I put on there. I bought bitter apple spray from the pet store and sprayed it on the floor around the pole. They stay away from that smell and stay away from the pole

haha! I’ve tried every bitter product on the market – my hound DRINKS that junk lol I have an antique armoire he pretty much destroyed as a puppy. tried apple cider vinegar and straight vinegar… this is why I’m at a loss. I’m ganna have to out something ON the pole to keep them away, I think

Maybe bubble wrap? Or surround it with that baby fencing? Not sure how big and strong they are…

65-80lbs… but they are terrified of bubblewrap (big ferocious pitbulls, my foot!)… so that may be something to try!

You might just have to take it down when you aren’t using it, and put it up when you want to use it. If you can store it away from your poopers, then they can’t chew it. Other than that, unless you can put a heavy duty gate somewhere to keep them out, I don’t have much in the way of suggestions for you.

If it makes you feel any better, one of my boys peed on my pole…
