I am SERIOUSLY considering a tummy tuck at the end of the year, but I am afraid it may affect/effect (I can never get those right, lol) my poling ability.  Maybe I am over thinking it, but I would think the cutting and sewing of my abdominal muscles would change the way I am able to use them.  Has anyone here had a TT? If so, has it changed your poling abilities?

I had a TT before I started poling and I really don’t think it causes me any problems…..but what I can tell you is it hurts like heck and I bet u will have to stay off the pole for a few months. I remember I couldn’t even get out of bed….my mom had to help me sit up for the first week alone! Good luck!

    First….
When something is affected, it’s the verb.

When something is an effect, it’s the noun.

Second, in a tummy tuck I don’t think they’re actually cutting your abs, they’re removing loose skin and reattaching it around your navel and across the tummy. She doesn’t follow this site much anymore I don’t think but TrophyWife who used to post a lot had a tummy tuck and I believe her recovery was not more than a couple months/12 weeks for tissues to heal and stitches to dissolve. I do know you should show pics to your doc because they generally don’t realize what you mean when you say you pole dance or even when you explain it. Best to bring a picture of something that would directly affect it like a jade, yogini, chopsticks etc that would pull or press directly on your abdomen and ask how long. Just remember don’t push it because you don’t want to pull on the incision, plastic surgeons sew their incisions a special certain way so they are not noticeable when they heal and you don’t want to tug on it and ruin that! But I do know that you CAN pole again after having one it’s just a bit of a wait to ensure you get he results you wanted.

Thanks PDR, I never get the use of those words right, lol. The surgeon that I am using is actually going to reconstruct my ab muscles by sewing them together before he stretches the skin.

I'm glad to hear that LL. I  don't know many moves now, but I would hate to be limited due to the surgery

Ouch that sounds painful!! Maybe if your insurance would cover it, a meeting with a physical therapist or sports medicine PT would give you some good insights about how any lack of muscle tone you have now might be affecting your pole goals versus what your recovery would look like and what your post-op goals could be? Good luck and speedy recovery if you do go forward with it 🙂
