Powder coated is the only pole I know and therefore love. Am trying to decide between chrome and brass and was worried about brass smelling and chome not sticking. I think I’m tending to lean towards chrome as I dislike the smell of brass. I wondered if the smell was noticeable and after reading this thread, it seems that for some people it is. I am hypersensitive to smells, so I am sure now that it will bother me.

Thank you all for your input!! i have decided on getting my pole powder coated! Just hope it doesnt take long! Renster: I have chrome now and it work fine but if you have sweaty hands or feet or anything your slipping or often getting off to whipe it down. If it wasn’t for that being a big annoyance I’d love it! But if you are a sweaty or clamy type then I’d suggest sticking to the powder coat!

Yah Brass stinks. Not gonna lie there.. I sweat A LOT so I need brass.
I just take a shower after my pole session- which I would do after any form of exercise. Its not that bad unless force yourself to smell your hands during your session -
Laughed at your smell your hands comment. I don’t have to smell my hands to smell it, just sensitive and very perceptive with smells. I didn’t know before I bought brass it has such a distinct smell. It’s good there are many finishes to choose from, I just never thought smell would be in my criteria set.

I like the smell!!! It smells coppery! FYI, for me brass is grabbiest than PC.

You can contact Gateway Powder Coating in St Louis, Mo. Ask for Nate, he has done various projects for me and my husband, I highly recommend his work! He has tons of different color choices and can powder coat anything metal.
