I've just read about them….. now I want one. Only thing is, I don't know which one to buy! I went to Powerball.com and there are so many with so many different speeds and whatnot with so many different tabs for different uses. I honestly think I have weak wrists and that looks crazy to do.. should I order the lowest speed? I also read from one of you that it's possible to outgrow them quickly… ugh! What do I do?! D:

I bought the classic neon NSD Power Ball off ebay last year.  I believe that the majority of the NSD balls are 283 gm and 250 Hz.  They do have a few that are heavier and have a higher power motor but honestly these are perfect.  The RPM is really a bogus measurement because YOU are the one who controls how fast the ball spins.

There is a lot of really good information on the NSD site about the differences between the manufacturers and even all sorts of different exercises you can do with them.  (Basically the 2 manufacturers are NSD and DynaFlex).

I just love my powerball. I bought the limited addition pro series with the intensity glowing sapphire  white light. The faster you spin it, the more intense the white glow gets. It also has a speedometer that records your fastest spin speed which encourages me to spin it faster so more workout on my wrist forearm bicept and tricept. I just love it and my arms get so tired from spinning it. It helps build strength on your arms. I bought this for me but my husband is now addicted to it. We have to fight over who uses it. I also want to purchase the auto starter for my powerball as I keep losing the string to start it. Once I get really strong on this, I plan on purchaseing the all metal chrome powerball they have which is twice the heavy weight and 350 hz speed.

We've been using these for YEARS at our studio and I love them. We sell the Dynaflex pro with the blue lights as it use to be the fastest with the highest resistance.

I DO feel a difference in the speeds but it's more like a difference in how smooth it runs like the bearings are different (cheaper?) in the lower speed balls so that it's not possible to make it run faster. Mostly I like the pro because the flashing lights makes it fun and if it's fun, we are more likely to use it! Just the powerball itself is fun too.

Increasing hand grip and wrist/forearm stength it likely the single most important improvement you will experience in pole dancing! It's also one of the most challenging things to develop.

You can do some exercises with freeweights/barbells, but I like to encourage the powerball because it's something you can do while watching television or driving in the car.

You will feel your muscles all the way up to your biceps/triceps fatigue with this.

Two  main drawbacks are the coordination it takes to work the powerball and getting the ripcord (starting string) stuck inside the ball.

OH and we originally had a customized band made for ours but it increased the price of the powerball by $15 each and it just wasn't worth it.

I have had this happen twice and it is a b*tch!!  I will say though I have kind of learned how to start the ball without the string.  I have not perfected the one flick start but can usually get it going with a few spins.

I had one of these (a DynaFlex, I believe) and I loved it, but I dropped it and something got all out of whack. It would clunk when I used it and wouldn't spin smoothly so I couldn't get it going at a good speed. Then the end of the string snapped off inside it so I just junked it. It was the basic model one that I got for $20 at a sporting goods store.

Moral of the story: don't drop yours. Lol https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

Mine has a wrist string to prevent dropping it. I often feel Its going to fly off my hand when I'm spinning it superfast. So the wrist string is a must for me. My husband also got the string stuck in the rotor the first time he tried to start it but he managed to get it out without breaking my powerball. I'm planning to get the optional auto starter base for easy home use.

ha ha ha- if i used one of those in the car while driving, i would totally cause an accident! lol

i just checked out a video on youtube about powerballs- i had never heard of such things!  they look like fun.

would the powerballs help alleviate arthritis?  my mom might like something like this- she has arthritis in the hands and fingers

some girls from my class suffer from repeatingly coming tendonitis/tendovaginitis (i found both words in the dictionary, don't know which is more common). i'm afraid of getting it, too – do you think the powerball could help preventing it? or would you say it is more likely to make tendonitis come more quickly …?

The powerball is suppose to help prevent wrist injuries (including tendonitis and carpal tunnel) by building stronger muscles. Stronger muscles will help assure a more secure hold in proper alignment. which is the key.

The most common cause of wrist pain/injuries in pole dancing is from allowing the wrist to wrap around the pole while supporting your body weight. When someone experiences ongoing wrist pain, they are most likely not keeping the wrist in neutral alignment during spins and lifts.

I do not believe the powerball will help with arthritis but it has been shown to improve carpal tunnel….if used correctly. Making large circles in order to keep the ball going will actually increase the risk of carpal tunnel. It's suppose to be kept in motion with small movements while keeping the wrist in neutral positio.
