I know i asked this yesterday but i would love more input.

I'm debating whether to have a private with my teacher. Its $40 for a little over an hour. I would do it while my kid is in school as a little pole treat to myself for my previous b-day. Awesome right?

Well, the thing is I already get a decent amount of one on one with her in class on Fridays. Its just me and another girl there and so when she's working on her i do whatever and visa versa. A nice balance. Although i do share the spotlight with someone way more bolder then me and i tend to "wander" when I'm left on my own. lol.
I imagine in a private it will be a lot more intense and i would accomplish a lot more. Push beyond some of those silly barriers i have in the invert land. Maybe even put something cool together. What kind of scares me is how intense it could get. I hate feeling like super pressured. If I'm pushed to much i shut down and put up a very hard stubborn wall. Then black cloud lets loose and its over. I would hate to spend my last $50 and it turn into a wall of stubborn black cloud blah cause i overwhelmed myself. But i really love my teacher and she's been soooooo good to me lately. I almost want to do it just be around her. lol. I would hate for it to be all work and no fun like it is in class. Strictness is ok, but I'm not competing or anything so i really would like it to be like a pole jam. Learn, laugh and accomplish mad shit.

So yeah, not sure what to do there. Thoughts?

Do it! Private lessons are a great way to focus on something you need a hand with. Let your instructor know your limits, but also try to challenge yourself a little to push past them. It's about making a bit of progress, not flying to the moon! LOL. Plus it's really nice to have one on one attention, often I find that they pick out small things I tend to forget – like breathing enough, or lifting my ribcage, or turning my toes out or whatever. And you always gain something from a lesson, whether it's new technique, a new trick, stretches, etc. Plus, you deserve it! =p Have fun and let us know what happens.

I take classes at my studio 1-2/week (not including drop ins whenever I can!) and the classes are small (usually I'm in a 3, maybe 4 person class).

Yesterday I had my first private and I LOVED IT!!! I went in with some specific things I wanted to work on and I feel so much better. Since she didn't have to spot anyone else in "invert-land" (lol love this) she was able to really pinpoint.

I'm also a person that really responds well to constructive criticism. I grew up wanting to be a writer so it's just part of the territory there and it sort of stuck with me so I even went in and I asked specifically "you know me better than anyone else, what do I need to work on?!" and she gave me good honest feedback. And because I trust her and I know she knows me, I really appreciated it. And hey- now I know!

She even got to teach me something new because while it was too advanced for all of us in my class, she felt like I was ready for it. It was really really cool. I highly highly recommend it!

I say go for it!  Just make sure you let your teacher know what you want.  If you don't talk to her about it first, how can she know?  I'm sure you will have fun, and learn loads!

Go for it, but make sure you know what you would like to work on it that lesson to ensure you get something good out of it 🙂 be prepared to push yourself that bit further and you will progress for sure!
I love privates, I have one every 6-8 weeks and the work on what I learnt for the next 6-8wks and keep it going that way. I think it’s most beneficial when your nearly at a move but not quite getting it/if its ad hoc as the little pointers from a 1-2-1 can be the final step to achieve it consistently.
    Enjoy 😀
