Hey guys I just wanted to share my happy experience. My hubby loves gadgets of any sort, and fitness gadgets are always on his list. However, most of them he has never used much. I got him a Pro Fit Iron Gym pull up bar for Christmas, and we both LOVE it.

It fits in a doorway, so is very easy to set up. It has different hand grips you can use. I’ve NEVER been able to do pull ups in my ENTIRE life. I remember my shame every year in elementary school when we had to do the "President’s Fitness Tests". I couldn’t hold the bent arm hang for even a second. But now… I can do like 4 in a row on one of the handgrips! I know it doesn’t sound like much, but it’s HUGE for me. I also love using it to improve my abs. I’ve started doing a pullup, and then pulling my knees up to my chest. I’ll let my legs down in a V or straight out. In just a few days of doing this, I can really tell a difference. The have arm straps you can buy, too, for doing ab work, but I haven’t ordered them yet.

Hubby loooooves doing pushups, and he uses the bar on the floor to do different types. He’s a pretty big guy, and it supports his weight just fine.

Anyway, I’ve just been so impressed with it that I wanted to share! I only paid about $30, too!

We got one for Christmas too, although we just got it out of the box this weekend https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif . But I agree it is very sturdy and my son and husband had a great time competing to see who could do the most pullups. Me? I couldn’t even do one https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif But I’m gonna work on it!

Prior to pole dancing, I too was humbled by the daunting pull-up! Despite weight training, I was pull-up deficient. Not anymore! Every other day I do 30 pull-ups. Will the genius of pole fitness ever cease?

It is funny that you mention the Presidential Fitness Test. I read a story about another individual who could not rock pull-ups, until recently training with the Iron Gym. A little MVP named Peyton Manning.

Our shoes are much hotter, but we are all athletes, nonetheless.

My husband has a pull-up bar too! I’m so proud that I can almost do one. I thought I could do one, and then i realized I’d been cheating by not starting from a limp hang https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_razz.gif So now I’m working on that. I’ve been using pull-ups to measure how much strength I’m gaining in my upper body from pole dancing. So far so good.

Does it have a bracket or something that you have to attach to the door frame to use it or is it all self-contained?

It works on opposing pressures. You just need to have a doorway that has at least 6" of wall on either side of it (most of mine in my house don’t).

WHAAA!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cry.gif I didn’t know you had to start w/a limp hang. I tried that last night, and I can’t pull up from that position at all! My shoulders have a tendency to (painlessly) dislocate, so that position is scary for me. I guess I’ll just have to keep working on it! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

Ahh. Great, thanks. I’ll have to look in to that.
