Questions about Chrome X-Pert before purchase!

I’m Joy and I’m from Sydney, Australia! I picked up pole dancing back in Dec 08 but stopped due to finance problems and then picked it up again earlier this year and have now progressed to Intermediate 2 at a local dance studio known as Pol-Arise and I LOVE IT!!!

I’m looking to purchase an X-Pole in the X-Pert in 45mm and originally my dance studio owner told me to buy the Titanium Silver (Australia doesn’t have TG) as I have a pretty bad slip problem. She informed me that the poles I’ve been learning on are STAINLESS Steel and have a similar grip to Titanium. She then said that Chrome is a VERY slippery material, even more so than Stainless Steel and my problem is so severe that I have to wear proper leather gloves (not even the fingerless Mighty Grip ones are effective as I sweat heaps through my fingers anyway that it’s hard for me to get a good grip as I fall straight to the ground). She recommended Titanium for me over Chrome as she found Chrome even MORE slippery than Stainless Steel and said that I would too if I have such a bad slip problem.
Now, apparently our old studio had Chrome poles and from what I remember, it was a similar grip to the Stainless Steel ones and this was nearly 2 years ago.
After doing much research online for the best price for X-Poles, I have found a seller on Ebay selling genuine X-Poles (Pole Dance Heaven is the Seller name based in the UK), and she stocks both Chrome and Titanium Gold. After doing much reading on Titanium Gold poles on your website, I discovered that the TG tends to fade over time from sweat and general wear and tear and was quite put off by this fact. Even the seller confirmed this with me and told me the best way to avoid this is to wear gloves or use grip aids (which most of the powdery stuff doesn’t work well for me anyway because I’ll still slip!). My studio owner DOES sell Titanium Silver X-Perts BUT it’s more expensive than what I’d be paying for from the Ebay seller.
So my conclusion is this – instead of buying a TG pole that may lose its color over time, I might as well go for Chrome which is a similar finish to what I’m learning on anyway (apparently Chrome is GRIPPIER than SS according to what you have all observed) and won’t fade in color but my dance studio owner disagrees with me and has told me again to buy the Titanium Silver from her and that what the Ebay seller is doing is prohibited as it’s from the UK and they’re not allowed to sell to Australia. (I’m not exactly sure why??)So, what I’d like to know is:
1. Am I better off buying a Chrome pole which is similar to SS and the color won’t fade over time as opposed to paying a bit more for extra grip in the TG which MAY fade over time? (For those that have experience with Chrome X-Perts, do they fade over time?)
Figured that if I work up a sweat, my hands will be so sweaty that I’ll probably have to end up wearing gloves whether I’m on the Chrome OR TG anyway.
2. How much difference in grip is there between the Chrome and SS? I do find SS QUITE slippery once my hands and feet start to sweat and hard to climb the pole without gloves and shoes on.
3. Are the X-Pert extensions sold separately/individually or in a set? I’d like to have a variety of extensions if I ever need to work with different ceiling heights that’s all.
4. Is the Chrome X-Pert a shiny silver mirror finish like the SS? It’s quite hard to tell from the pictures provided by the Seller.Thanks heaps, guys!

Hi, I’ve got a chrome xpert pole and think its great. My friend had the gold titanium one and I couldn’t tell any difference so I saved my self the extra money. I think the diameter size makes more of a difference the 45mm are better than 50mm as you can grip better. I’ve been teaching about 5 years and I tell girls not to wear gloves as your grip will get better with time. When I started learning I had sweaty hands and then I went through the blister faze and now my hands are like hard leather! Nice… but at least I can grip the pole well. I keep an alcohol based hand gel around when I teach and that will cut through any grease on your hands. Try to make sure you don’t use a moisterising shower gel that can make a huge difference on hand grip and wash your hands before you go on the pole. Also avoid any lotions / fake tans etc. even from the night before. I’m sure you know all this anyway but little things can make all the difference. I would ditch the gloves though and once your hands get used to the grip of the pole they should be ok on any pole. Brass are supposed to be the best grip but I’ve used one and still didn’t notice any difference. My hands are quite dry so I prefer them to sweat as I get a better grip, my whole body sticks to the pole when I’m hot and sweaty which makes it better for tricks. I do appreciate that everyone is different though. I’m pretty sure once you get your pole at home and practice every day you will be fine, your hands with adapt. Hope that helps! x

I have small hands and find a 45mm easier to grip for spins but a 50mm better for thigh holds/inversions. If you dance on a 45mm it may be harder to use 50mm in the future as your grip may be weaker.
The chrome Xpoles have a mirror like finish similar to stainless steel. I know many people who have not noticed a difference between chrome and titanium grip wise.
But whatever you do please dont buy a pole off ebay!! No matter how genuine they appear, or even if they are genuine Xpoles. The only way to be sure and have warranty/customer service is to buy straight from Xpole.com.au

It kind of sounds like the studio owner may be trying to get a sale out of you and is pushing the titanium pole for that reason. In my opinion and the opinion of a LOT of pole dancers I’ve had this conversation with (and I’ve had it a lot believe me LOL I too sell X-Poles) Stainless Stell is usually (and I say usually because I know a couple of dancers *cough * Charley *cough* Amy that swear by stainless steel) the most slippey. I personally would never recommened SS for a first time pole buyer with sweaty hands. I have a chrome X-Pole and I love her to death, bu then again I don’t have the slippery hand problem. I have also poled on stainless steel and not had much of a problem. I’m just speaking from what lots of other polers have told me.
1. Chrome doesn’t fade from what I know of
2. I would say SS is much more slippery
3. extensions are sold seperately. I’d say only buy the ones you need or think you’ll need.
4. In a picture chrome and stainless steel would probably look exactly alike.

There are reputable dealers on Ebay. You can contact xpole to find out if the dealer in question is selling authorized x-poles. They should know if they are because if they are geniune poles, they’re getting them from X-Pole.

Hey There,
I would suggest getting the Chrome X-Pole, it’s a great pole for the price. I have had one for about a year now and I too had issues at first with slipping because I have smaller hands. I have a 50mm Chrome Pole and have found that the following really really helps: 1. get a dehumidifier! No matter how dry you think your room may be…. it’s amazing to see how much moisture gets pulled out of the room. 2. Keep a fan running while your dancing. 3. Hairspray! Of all the things I’ve tried… gloves, mighty grip hand powder/lotion, etc…. a little bit of hair spray applied to your hands and legs before you start really increases grip. If you really need it, you can spray a little on the pole itself, just do a light dusting of it. I currently am using Aquanet now https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif because it was on sale. As long as you don’t buy one with gel it, any hairspray should do the trick. Just remember to clean your pole with alcohol before and after your workout. Hope this helps. -

I purchased my x-pole from a dealer on Ebay whom I verified with x-pole US. Also, the warranty is the same as if you purchased from x-pole directly. Thanks so much for your replies and suggestions! This really does give me the advice I need and the confidence that the Chrome pole will be ok for me afterall and all my researching has paid off!
I think I read in another post somewhere that the seller Pole Dance Heaven is an authorized dealer of X-Poles on eBay. Even though she’s based in the UK, will the X-Pole Australia site know anything of this you reckon?

Oh, by the way, I measured one of the highest ceilings in my home and it came to 3.7m which is just over 12ft tall.
For a ceiling this high, will I require a ladder to set up the X-Pert? And will the extensions be safe enough to use as I’ve read that the higher the pole the more it flexes in usage.
Will this height also require two people to set up and pack down?
