Know those random things you find out that make your life so much better, and you just have to share? Well, I figured it would be fun to have a place to share them 🙂

I'll start with two things I found out lately, and I hope other girls will find useful:

    Leg cramps
I used to suffer from pretty severe leg cramps – I haven't pointed my toes in years! Recently I found that cramping can be caused by dehydration and mineral deficiencies, among other reasons. In the past month I made a point of drinking at least 2 litre of water before practice and eating the kind of foods that help with leg cramps during the week (see here: http://www.livestrong.com/article/116308-foods-prevent-leg-cramps/), and I didn't cramp even once!

    Smelly workout cloths
This is a problem I think only sweaty people like me have – at first, when you buy new workout cloths and wear them for practice, they smell fresh. After a while – even if you air them and clean them really well in the laundry, the moment a single drop of sweat touches them you instantly become the smelliest person in the room (yuck!).
Normally, I would throw away my bra/shirt at this point, but lately I found that the bad smell is caused by bacteria that is growing inside the fabric, and that if you let them soak ~30 mins in water with a little bit of bleach (I have a kind that doesn't actually make the fabric white), and then put them in the laundry, it kills the bacteria and they become fresh again!

If you do indeed get leg or foot cramps while out and about do a shot of tonic water.  Quinine is a natural remedy for leg cramps and works wonders.

For smelly clothes, treat your washing machine, too.  There are all sorts fo hidden places that soaps and lint get trapped and then end up stinking up your laundry.  One of the best things you can do is to let your washing machine dry out after you are done by leaving the lid/door open.

Baking soda and white vinegar eliminate multitudes of stinky laundry sins. Be warned, you will have lots of foam (this is what grade school kids make "volcanoes" from). But wow, the difference in the laundry is totally worth it.

Hairspray removes ballpoint pen from clothing.

Coconut oil is probably the safest and most natural eye makeup remover you can buy.

Coconut oil is also AWESOME for your hair.

If you get a lot of static electricity and don't have hairspray or fabric softener handy, you can get a very very light coating of hand lotion on your hands then very very very lightly run your hands over your clothes. No more static, yay!

I love using coconut oil as a night time moisturizer for my face or cuticles. Love it! Also works wonders for emoting eye makeup like chem said.

Use peppermint oil for sore muscles.  And you get to smell like summer too!

If you're prone to athelete's foot, dry your feet and in between your toes with a hair dryer. Towelling leaves moisture behind which promotes the growth of the bacteria, where as a hair dryer will do a more thorough job. Just take care not to have it too hot/too close that you burn yourself 😛

You should let hot drinks like coffee and tea cool to 60C or 157F before you drink them because it decreases the risk of throat cancer.

And when I say decreases the risk, I don't mean that slightly cooled tea/coffee is a cure for cancer, I mean that drinking really hot liquid can increase the risk of throat cancer. So you should let it cool a bit first before you drink it :3

You know that feeling when your skin has become a little dull and you know even your make up isn't sitting right because your skin needs to be wakened up a bit?  Well, if you have a party or date etc and haven't got a lot of time to find a remedy that works, sea salt, porridge oats and a tiny bit of squeezed lime juice makes a brilliant scrub to brighten the skin up. Massage into damp skin in circular motions and lace on lots of moisturiser after.

I used to work in Lush and lots of our brightening skin products contained either lemon, lime or salt! 🙂

Baking soda makes an excellent, very gentle facial exfoliant if you're like me and most face scrubs are too intense.

You can make a super low-level peel by crushing two-three aspirin (the real stuff, uncoated) into a tiny tiny bit of water–make a paste, then dab onto face. Leave it for a few minutes then rinse off. Baby soft skin and very gentle!

Mix coffee with shower gel and you'll have the best body scrub of all time! Makes your body as soft as a baby's behind. Just make sure to use it only with your hands, don't use a sponge or you'll have to throw it away.

    Cotton panty liners!
If your doctor told you to get rid of your panty liners and start using cotton underwear, but you are not ready to go without them just yet, you can buy or make cotton panty liners (http://www.cottna.co.il/FullImageView.htm?image=/images/75782108.jpg). They are shaped like a regular panty liner, and are made from 2-3 layers of cotton fabric and have this tic-tac thingie (what's the name) where the glue normally is to hold them in place.
They are reusable, so they are nicer for the environment, and they keep your ladyparts dry and aired during the day 😉

Hey LillyBilly,  thanks for the info on the cotton panty liners.  Unfortunately, the web site is in a language that I do not know 🙁
