There are some dancing/pole dancing books that I’ve read that have really helped me, just thought I’d post them https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif

The S Factor by Sheila Kelley This book is wonderful because of its variety. It has chapters on stretching, stripper moves (mostly floor and wall dancing moves), how to strip, different lap dance moves, beginner pole dancing moves, and mini routines as well as confidence boosting advice. I love this book!

The Complete Idiots Guide to Exotic Dancing by Wendy Reardon This book came with a DVD which I wasn’t too impressed with to be honest (the cheesy 80’s porno music annoyed me too much) but I love this book because of the way Reardon wrote it. After I was done reading it I felt like I was the cats meow, nothing was going to hold me back from mastering the pole!!! If you need some confidence boosting, great advice and just someone there to tell you that "you’re hot stuff!!" then get this book. I definitely recommend this book just for it’s positive attitude.

The Art of Pole Dancing- A Spin by Spin Guide by Peekaboo I’ve heard a lot of people give this book negative reviews, and the title of the book is definitely misleading. I thought I’d be getting a book based on SPINS- like actual spins like the Fireman, Carousel, Knee Spin…etc. But this book is mostly about Transitions, or little extra dance moves you can do in-between true spins. I’d get this book if you’re confused about what to do in between spins and stuff if you’re doing an actual dance.

The Art of Lap Dancing by Peekaboo This book is pretty cute if you’re completely new to lapdancing. I knew most of these tricks before I got the book so I was a bit disappointed, but it has cute ideas for a beginner.

Dancing- A Guide for the Dancer You Can Be- by Ellen Jacob This is by far my most favorite dance book. It was written in 1981 and might be a little hard to find but even though it’s over 20 years old the advice and knowledge I gained from reading this one is priceless. It discusses different styles of dance and the histories behind each, how body type affects the way you move, how to find a good teacher, what to expect when you’re first beginning to dance, how to tell if you’re trying too hard, what to eat, what to wear, what to do about injuries, conversations with professional dancers, etc. The book obviously doesn’t include anything about exotic dancing and it mostly focuses on ballet- but I’ve written in this book, highlighted, and reread it over and over for it’s amazing advice. I LOVE IT!!

The Dancers Guide- By Kasey Koles Very disappointed with this book. It was written "exclusively for professional exotic dancers and adult entertainers" but it looks like it was printed off of a personal printer. The pictures of the girls in this book even have "Red Eye" still, clearly it wasn’t manufactured from a major book company. I didn’t really learn anything from this book. Wouldn’t recommend.

The Idiots Guide to Stretching- by Barbara Templeton I bought this book because I wanted to get more flexible and I have no clue how to properly stretch really. Plus on days when you’re short on time, how little can you stretch while still making a difference in your body? This book is written clearly, in an interesting manner and has chapters on the anatomy of stretching, stretching from head to toe, as well as how to customize a stretching routine. I love it!

Stretching- by Suzanne Martin Ok so there’s a book by this title as well, but what I have is the deck of cards on which each one has a different stretch for you to work on. I like it because it’s really portable and kind of cool because it’s not an actual book. It also has little routines like Morning Stretches, Winding Down, etc. I really like these cards because each stretch has little marks on the color pictures which show you exactly WHERE you should be feeling it, that way you know you’re doing it right https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Phew! If you read this far, thanks!!!!! Those are all the books I’d recommend (or not recommend) so far! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif
