I know that spins are out of the question right now, since I’m only a week in and still working on my Pole Hold.
However, are there any moves I can work ON the pole yet, like, say, a sit? I’m looking to put together a very beginner routine (which can’t contain spins).
I just started the Back Bend and Slide (love!), and continue working on pirouettes and hip waves, etc. But I’m looking for more contact with the pole, if that makes sense?
    Please shower me with knowledge!

Do you have Veena’s lesson? She actually has a beginner routine. You may not be able to do all of the moves, but you could get some ideas from it.

if you have venae’s lessons, they are organized in beginner, intermediate, and advanced moves. when I started her lessons, I started from the top and worked my way. I probably skipped a lot of the floor work in the beginner and went straight to pole climb, pole sit, and I did a little of the floorwork here and there with the climb and sit moves. I’d say if you have proper form maybe you could work on doing a climb up into a pole sit? You may or may not be able to do it right away, but you could try. there’s nothing particularly forbidden about doing a pole sit. just use proper form, make sure you are secure in your grip on the pole and start low on the pole. one important thing about pole is that you shouldn’t move forward with the next move if you are not already secure in the move you are in. ex: if you cant safely make that first climb up onto the pole then don’t try to keep climbing or pole sit. get your foundation steady first. I think climbs are good strength builders , but you don’t have to climb to the top if you don’t feel safe. just do one little climb up. and a pole sit is soooo important in pole dance. both of these moves take some time, strength, and pain. your thighs will burn and bruise. get started as soon as your ready so that you can overcome that thigh pain. this is where you will start to find that you need rest days. I think you said you have been doing her strength routine already. just look at some of her other beginner moves and try them slowly. they progress from easy to more difficult. Honestly that pole sit was one of the toughest hurdles for me to overcome. so don’t let the word beginner get you down if you find it tough. it is tough! but it gets much easier. and yes! look at Veena’s beginner routines! this will give you ideas.

There are a couple very beginner spins or “half spins” if you like. Veenas extended leg spin is an example of a spin that you dont even have to lift your feet off the floor. You can incorporate floor work, standing transitions, booty moves, pole sits (and leg variations in a pole sit), upright crucifix, shoulderstand for a simple inversion. That’s tons to make a routine from!
