Hello everyone. I am new to this site (and loving it more than Facebook now) so I apologise if this has already been discussed, but I was wondering if anyone has experience with suddenly not being able to do a move they had previously mastered?

I first got the Superman about a month ago and was able to do it pain free and easily shortly after. Now I can't do it. I went into it the other day but when I released my bottom hand it was like my hips couldn't move into position anymore and I dropped to the floor. I'm supposed to do the Superman drop into Scorpio (inside leg hang) for class and now I'm dealing with a mental block. At home I've been having my partner spot me but I just end up grabbing onto him and pushing myself into superman, haha.

How do you get over it? I know it's just my mind telling my body I can't do it, but how do you ladies move past it? Thanks!

Don't worry, it happens all the time that moves are lost if you have just learnt them but then haven't practised them in a while. Ususally it doesn't take very long to come back to something that you once knew so keep doing it and your body will suddenly have found the technique again:)!

Hello, I worked MONTHS on  the extended butterfly and finally got it.  Then I got my sloppy shoulder mount. Anyway, I have lost both of them.  🙁    I know they will come back, I will just keep working at them.  But for now, I am taking a break from pole and working on strength and eating healthy.  🙂

This has happened to me before too, probably most of us have shared this same experience. It's really frustrating, I know! I've actually lost my Superman as well before and recently found myself struggling with my shoulder mount form, which used to be fine with. I think Lina is right, just practice it and your muscles will remember. But trust me, I understand how frustrating it is. My SM issue is a current problem and practically had me in tears the other night. Like Lyme, I also think it's ok to put something off for a little while and come back to it when you're in a better state of mind.
