    Hey guys,

So I’ve been trying to work on my remi sit, and it is KILLING me. I was wondering if this is normal, and if so, whether anyone has any advice on how to make it less painful and also if they have any simple tips about getting it. I keep seeing all these gorgeous pictures of people doing a remi sit but hanging upside down and I am on a mission to be able to do the same. I know that sounds like a really simple task to some, but it’s coming really hard to me and I’m really frustrated about it. Any advice or thoughts would be really welcomed and appreciated!

I finally got mine pain-free after seeing a note from Charley (think it was Charley) about foot placement to keep the pressure off your instep and put it more at the side of your foot. And you might ask Kiki, cause that girl’s a Remi BEAST lol

Thank you! I’m on a mission to get it down. I’ve felt like I’m in a bit of a rut as far as progress lately and when I see something I want to tackle, I am on a mission to get it done!

I’ve never even understood how to get into the remi sit! I would love to work on this one, too, but… my legs/feet never seem to want to get into it!

Yeah, I was working today and to be honest, the only way I could get into it was to start by doing an ordinary pole climb and then basically switching legs so that my right leg was wrapped around the pole at the knee and then it seemed easier to hook me left leg over and behind the pole. I watched a tutorial of someone effortlessly doing it from the ground and I got a bit disheartened. It hurts!!!

I saw a great tutorial on youtube recently. I think it was Charlee Wagner. She breaks it down nicely and shows a nice way to spin into it from a basic plank.

I watched that one as well and you’re right, she did a great job explaining. I just searched on ere and RikkiL posted one called remi sit for Luvlee. Try searching it, because she shows how I basically did it today (albeit a LOT less elegantly…I felt like an elephant on my pole).

Mine still hurts unfortunately the only way I got it pain free was when I tried it in long pvc boots. Cheating I know lol still working on it though. I must try the advice on foot placement.

I had Kikki demonstrate how she gets into the Remi when she was visiting my place this summer. I found that as long as the top leg had the pole snuggly tucked into the knee pocket (similar to CKR) and the wrapped/lower leg had the pole closer to the shin not the top of the foot, it really wasn’t painful. So for me the key was having the top leg take on most of the pressure. Side note, if you have knee issues skip this move. 🙂

Grip the pole similar to CKR with the top leg

Yeah this move hurts like a mofo. I agree with Veena that if that top leg is snuggly into that knee there’s less pressure on the bottom foot. But it still hurts a little. I found with this one it’s more of a “just grin and bear it” kind of move. I found that rather than sitting in the move and freaking out about how owwie it was, if I just leant back in it, that also relieved some of the pressure. After doing that a few more times I eventually worked it out and can now get into it effortlessly 🙂

I’ve been practicing this move a lot lately. Do not worry about leaning back at first. Get the hang of actually sitting in it… It should not hurt your foot or ankle, if it hurts too much you are not engaging your crossed leg enough. You need to squeeze the crap out of so it take most of the force and bearing most of your weight. I mastered sitting in it before I started leaning back though. It gets better. Laybacks are not my forte though, but just take it in small steps. Everyone gave great tips

oh and speaking of kiki.. She is a remi beast as poler girl stated. She is the one that taught me the remi through Skype! I never would have tried the move had it not been for her

Me too Irish. The remi doesn’t hurt at all anymore, but the layback is unbearable.
