there is no "precise time" i guess, but dont do like me: i practiced a lot at last minute and had less energy /concentration

dont eat chocolate… eat your "big meal" at least 6-7 hours before, and bring nuts and stuff like that

Thank you Oliviaaa!  I think it's a topic that isn't discussed too much and I think with pole becoming more popular and ladies (and gentlemen) performing and competing…it's a good thing to know so everyone can go out and do their very best.  I trained very hard up till about 2 days before and I don't think that was enough time to recover and feel refreshed.  I definitely learned to eat better when training and make sure I trained more effectively with rest in between. I'm sure everyone has a system that works for them…I just thought it would be a great discussion to start and see if it could be assistance to anyone thinking about performing or competiting.  https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

I always eat every 2-4 hours. I have less energy to perform if I don't have food in me. I get worn out by day three in a row if I do a ton for two in a row(8 hour demos-breakdown of one performance per hour-4 songs-12 min. an hour) I do all tricks and some transitions. I am worn out by day three, so just don't do it every day the week of your event. Good luck.

David C Owen has discussed this and has some good guidelines.  PM him if you can, otherwise I'll see him Sun 08/28 and let him know to get in touch with you.  Funny you brought this up, since it's a peeve for him to see competitors (even showcasers) over-train just prior. Hugs to you champ!  😉

Aww…Thank you Trixie!!!  XOXO  I'll send him a message too.  We definitely all 'live and learn' and I would love to learn from what I've done and I would want other competitors and performers to be able to do the same.  At that point we can see everyone's phenomenal talent!!  Thank you Roamy…energy would be necessary for that kind of workout.  I can't imagine going in on empty.  =)

My competition was on a saturday. The week before it I did two routines on monday and two on wednesday, stretching really well after each practice. I took thursday and friday to rest, then saturday morning I just did a dance through to make sure I was prepared. It worked out well and I wasnt tired until after the performance.

That sounds like a great plan KittyCat86!  You had a good rest of inbetween your workouts and a good rest before your performance.  My training has been one day on and one day off and I can feel the difference in my strength when it comes to practice.  Thank you for sharing!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Hi IS! I'm trying to remember what I did last week. I think it's almost the same as what Kitty Cat described. Practiced on Monday and Wednesday – freestyle to warm up, light stretching, then running the routine as many times as I could before the form started to go. On Wednesday, that was three times in a row.

Thursday was a rest day, Friday I did a few skills at the competition location at the competitor meeting – tried not to push it. Saturday was the comp and danced and stretched quite a backstage before going on. Hope this helps!
