Reverse Aysha
Posted by amcut on June 17, 2009 at 5:58 am…Wah.
I haven’t gotten me an aysha, so I was thinking maybe I’d try out reverse aysha?
It looks like something I might accidentally get myself into, but I keep on seeing, "please adjust your bottom arm" comments on people’s videos, so I was wondering the best way to keep a bottom arm on a reverse aysha?
Also, I was thinking about getting into it from a leg hang. Is that traditional?

You’ve sparked my interest but I can’t helpI’m afraid. I would love to hear the replies you get though. I’ve got the aysha but have never attempted a reverse one and it sounds like something worth a try but don’t think I’ve seen it done while I’ve been at the stage I could try it. You said you saw some videos can you remember what they are or who did them? I know you said there were comments about correcting bottom arm but it might be a place to start.

Okay so I will throw my two cents in here as this is one move that I have recently fell in love with. I usually get into it from a basic invert (pole is on my right side). I then place my right hand slightly below my knees, the left hand then comes below your head to grab the pole. Now I’ve seen this done two ways 1. with arm bent behind your head with hand cupped with your thumb closest to your neck. 2. bottom arm extended fully with hand cupped with fingers pointing more towards the floor. I have found that If I am just doing the reverse aysha (split V)then I used the first grip..but If I am working on doing reverse aysha to twisted grip straight edge split then I use the second. As with most pole moves..I’m not sure if there is technically right or wrong way of doing this. I personally think it’s about preference and what feels secure. Wikipole.org has a picture of both grips under split V or Back Split Marksman. I also think Bexboo on YT has a video of her doing "Karols twisted grip combo" which showes her going into the reverse aysha and then to twisted grip..just to give you a visuall! Hope this wasn’t too confusing!

Iiiinteresting!
MUCHTHANKS ROXY I guess I’ll try and work both grips since they both seem to have uses. I got the impression that in the wrong grip, you were in danger of hurting something, but I really can’t recall since I had no intentions on trying it out when I read it.
pinkprincess, I’ve seen it in a LOOOOT of videos, but I have a cheesecloth memory when it comes to things that I imagine don’t apply to me.

I looked at wikipole (thanks for that, I never knew about it until now) and looked at the Aysha. I do it reverse of that and I’ve never seen it anything but reverse. Where you are upside down and in that same position. Doing it right side up looks like it would so hard. But it looks cool. I’ll have to work on getting it up like in the picture. New pole trick for me (if I get it). Fun!

Sorry if I’m mistaken, but it looks like your a tad confused… The reverse aysha isn’t an actual reverse of the aysha – it’s similar, though. You’re still upside down but your upper body is in a different position. You get into it from a basic invert, keep your inside arm where it is on the pole, then take your outside arm down below your head and grip the pole, and then you release your legs in the split position. Look under the R section and you’ll see it listed with a couple pics. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
