Rib pain
I've seen a similar post elsewhere, but thought I'd start another as wanted to explain the exact problem!
Basically I'm getting a lot of rib pain from inverting. I haven't been doing it long so I thought it must be down to poor technique / not enough strength, but i've been very careful. Yesterday I inverted lots and was very careful to make sure I wasn't throwing myself into it and wasn't bashing the side, and it was fine. Afterwards I was pretty sore, but I had done a lot. Today, I do one invert and my side killlllllls. Now the obvious problem would be technique/strength, but I have done sports from a very young age and know I have the strength (this sounds arrogant, but I have competitively swam for years so have strong core and am pretty muscly!). I also was careful to make sure yesterday that it wasn't due to bashing into the pole or anything, and it didn't seem to be. It feels more like it rubs against the pole, and thats what causes it to hurt, rather than from a sharp impact…if that makes sense.
Also, to add to this. At Christmas I had pneumonia and tore some of my intercostal muscles from coughing. These took agggges to heal, and are on the same side that it hurts from inverting. Do you think this is related!? I was thinking of letting them heal and then wrapping up my side a bit and seeing if that helps? Its really frustrating as I do feel I have the strength just it hurts!
Any help would be so gladly received. I'm new to this place but having browsed through it looks amazing!!
