Saying Hello!
Hi! I just joined the site yesterday and wanted to pop in and say Hello 🙂 I guess I said Hi! first, actually 🙂 .
I'm 41 years old, been married for 23 years and have an almost 16 year old son.
For the past 3 years I've been doing figure and bikini competitions. However, that is starting to wear on me…. The tanning and prepping and super tight dieting starts to get old after a while. Plus competition day is so long with the posing all morning, then again all evening. Yep, time for something new!
I needed to find something to keep me active and also have a goal to reach that required me to workout. It's hard for me to stay on track without something in reach. I've been wanting to try pole for a while, it looks so fun, and I love to climb and swing on stuff! I'm also using it as motivation to get my husband to lose weight. He gets a dance for every 10 pounds he drops LOL. He dropped the first 10 in 6 weeks!
I bought a pole in January, got it all set up, and promptly got nauseas after just a few spins LOL. I thought to myself "what have I done spending all of this money and the thing makes me sick??" I stuck through it though and worked on climbs and stuff that didn't require spinning. If I make sure to have a good mix of climbs vs spinning (and make sure to vary my spinning direction) I don't get sick now (that's good!) I was also surprised at how hard it was. I've lifted weights for 7 years, and being a figure competitor required some really heavy lifting. I thought I was strong and in shape, but it was tough!
I signed up for Veena's lessons and am on day 2 of the 30 day program. I'm already loving it. It is nice to have some structure, and moves to work on. Plus I need work in the flexibility dept and have been wanting to do splits forever. So I'm very excited to be here and learn from you all 🙂
