Scotland & UK gals… Rhinestones?
Hi Ladies,
I'm a US studio owner who's been living in Glasgow for uni since September. I have been working hard on my studies, managing the studio back home, and developing new plans for the studio when I return. Here's where I need a bit of local help.
I have been developing rhinestoning platform (and other) shoes. I have an old pair of platforms with me, and after extensive research about glues, plastic, and rhinestones, I finally started working with them as an experiment. It's been a glowing success. The rhinestones don't budge. I have to pry them off with some force if I want them off.
The next step of the experiment is to put them to the test under real conditions. For that I need people. If I were home, I'd have a queue just waiting to volunteer. I checked into shipping their shoes here then back to the states. Wow, expensive!
So, here's the deal. You got some old platforms you want to bring back to life? All you pay for is the cost of the rhinestones. I have a wholesale supplier for swarovski so you will not be paying retail for these. My labor is free. You pole with the shoes on, go out dancing, hoover at home in them, etc. Let me know how they hold up. If a rhinestone does pop off I definitely want to know.
I'm happy to share photos of my shoes. I just did a simple edging but almost any option is open. Words, images, fully encrusted. Also, it doesn't have to be pole shoes (though that's what I really want to experiment on right now), any shoes can be used. For pole shoes, I do need a platform or at least the heel to work with. I obviously won't place stones on the shoe upper since that will prohibit certain inverted moves.
I know I'm running on with this, but this last part is to let you know I'm not just some gal who decided to cheaply bling things. I have done graphic design since the late 90's, been doing various arts and crafts since I can remember, and I worked for a professional stationer designing and assembling custom wedding invites and such. I've also done my own freelance wedding designs. Photos of my past work and references available on request.
Lastly, if anyone in the UK is interested in learning my method of rhinestoning we can talk about it. I'd like to leave my knowledge here for someone to take over in the UK if this becomes a popular thing.
I'm here through the summer! Email me (remove the spaces) roxi @ clevelandexoticdance .com
