Shaving questions!
Posted by Runemist34 on June 3, 2013 at 3:42 amHey everyone!
While not pole related, I'm sure we can all accept that esthetics is a thing we all thing about- we all want to look and feel good about ourselves, no matter how we achieve that.
So, I have a couple of questions:
First, shaving your forearms. Yes? No? Weird? I tried it a long time ago, but got some reactions, so I stopped immediately. Every now and then my dark hair bothers me… and so I'm just wanting a few thoughts.
Second, and more important… lady bits shaving? I trim, but… it's kind of to the point where I think shaving may actually be more effective and less time consuming! But, I'm still worried about it. I know that there are higher risks to yeast infections (I am a bit fastidious, though), and apparently the hair down there helps keep pheromones, which allows one to attract men for "fun times." I'm not sure how much this would affect my life. Anyone gone through this decision-making process before? What do you do about the itching?
So… yep. Thanks everyone!

Laser hair removal. Expensive but best thing I ever did. Doesn't necessarily remove all the hair, you can just have it done a few times if you want to thin it out a bit to make it more manageable.

I like laser or waxing. Shaving really irritates my skin. I find laser really works well on the bikini and underarms area. The legs so/so for me, but maybe I need to try with someone else. Also if you are going to remove forearm hair I personally think waxing would be better, but that also depends on if your hair grows back the same with shaving or more course and prickly. My friends and I are all different and some shave, the hair stays soft. Shaving turns me into a freaking porcupine lol Also to curb laser costs if your interested, you can try looking for a groupon deal because they can be pretty good sometimes.

I use an epilator on my legs regularly and on my forearms every now and again. I've got Ukranian, Polish and Italian genes, so the need for serious hair removal! The epilator has the benefit of making the hair finer and thinner after just a few uses, so I don't have to dit very often anymore. It hurts like a mother the first 2 or 3 times, but after that it's ok, I think because the roots are weaker or the hair is thinner, not really sure.
As for lady bits, I shaved them once as a special gift when my boyfriend was deployed for the first Iraq war in 91, horrible experience! In a pinch I'll shave the edges, but never near the bits again! I'm all for yanking the hairs, but leave some cushion in the middle. Stubble in that area is AWFUL!

Unfortunately, I have neither the money or the inclination to get laser hair removal right now- I don't even know if I want to have hair in those areas or not! Why would I get it lasered away forever, only to wish for it back?
Untamedshrew- I'll keep in mind about the stubble in that area 😉 I've heard a lot about epilators, and… I don't know if I'd have the fortitude for them. Piercings and tattoos I can do, but I couldn't even do waxing for my legs, so… I think I just like shaving!
But I'm still stuck on the question of whether I should try it, and what the ideas are for the pro's and con's on each side.

I don’t know about the forearms, but for lady area – you could use a trimmer just to trim the area so you’re not getting rid of it. And shave or wax the bikini line. I really want to do laser down there – but not all of it! Just so I don’t have to do as much up keep lol! My sister in law had the laser done and she said it was the best decision she ever made. They even made a cute shape lol, and she did her armpits too.

I had laser done on my legs and armpits,it s expensive but so worth it. Now I’m almost bold enough to do my bikini but my husband says it’s creepy to have no hair down there as a grown up woman!lol…i suppose i could go with partial lasered too.. but it would be so nice not having ever To trim it at all.

I have tried every hair removal treatment under the sun – I'm quarter Lebanese and blame that for my dark hairiness! But a guy has never made me feel like I should do it – I personally just feel more confident and sexier when I am smooth. So if you're doing this for a guy, tell him to fuck off 😉
So now, I epilate my legs every couple of weeks and it's awesome, I love it. But alot of friends have said (like Zooey) that they've had problems so I think it's a personal thing. I wax my forearms – every couple of months, not too regularly, just to keep the dark hair to a minimum length. I don't want to be bald all over, but I don't want to be King Kong of the Apes either! And I get my lady bits waxed (full brazilian, all off!) every 6 weeks. love it – makes me feel super sexy and when it grows back it's alot softer and finer. I HATE razors and would never trust myself to shave there!
Also for those of you who get ingrowns, use TendSkin for Razor burn. It's the best stuff EVER, you can buy it online cheaper than in pharmacies too, it smells like pure alcohol but honestly I have not had a single ingrown hair ANYWHERE since using it 😀

I can't afford lazer and waxing causes a bad reaction to my skin. There is also a sugaring method that I will eventually try. Due to the suggestions on another post, I recently bought an eppilator. I Love it. Don't get me wrong it hurts like a mother. But they say you get used to it. I take some aspirin an hour or so before I do it. I also zone out on the TV while I am doing it and I can kind of distance myself from the pain this way. If you are staring at your leg and the hair and the eppilator about to go down it, it will hurt more. I bought the Braun silk epi-7 it's not loud as I read some people say theirs were so I can hear the TV. If anyone decides to buy one, I would suggest shaving or waxing before hand. Get the hairs immediately as they start growing out. Don't wait for there to be a lot of them. I don't see a virgin eppilator user able to take pain like that and I think that's why most people give up on it.
Also, I feel like if someone can put up with the pain of pole burn, they can take an eppilator.
As for the lady bits I bare mine out, I just personally like the look and feel of it. I shave, I've never had any issues.
As for my forearms, I have hair there too, It's black but I am not fair skinned. It's thin and short. I don't do anything to it. I've never had anybody complain or say anything. On top of all the other hair patrol I have to do, I say F my arms. I don't care. If a guy ever kicks me out of bed because there's a little bit of hair on my arms, he's an idiot. I would probably get him with my eppilator to show him what's up.
That whole ingrown hairs due to the eppilator thing scares me but I make sure to exfoliate before I use it to prevent this problem. I am also going to try that stuff Hazelnut mentioned just to be on the safe side.

I lasered my underarms and Brazilian (although I still have quite a lot of hair in a triangle above the pubic bone…if anyone wants me to elaborate on this i can haha)
I have pretty bad eczema on my legs. I used to wax pretty often but I ran out of wax a while ago and haven’t bought more. Occasionally ill shave but that irritates my eczema. So most of the time i walk around with hairy legs haha! -
I shave my lady bits! It's not too bad. You'll want to use a new razor, a sharp one. I usually do this after a bath so I've been soaking and softening the hair. I use a creme shaving cream (one that does not lather, it resembles a lotion). Pure Romance's "Coochy" is my favorite by far but there are others out there. I'll apply that and shave with the grain first. Rinse, then apply more creme and shave against the grain. There are some tough areas to get to but the more practice you get the better you'll be at it. You'll have to feel around down there to figure out which direction the grain is going underneath, cuz the hair grows in weird ways sometimes, lol. 😉 After the shower I use lotion immediately. I get really gentle stuff, St. Ives without fragrance is nice. As long as you don't shave too often (I do it probably once every two weeks) then hopefully you won't deal with much irritation.

So, if you're gonna shave your lady bits, always use a new razor. Get some disposable razors and throw them away after one use. Doc told me this, but I reused one anyway and got a huge cyst on my bikini line that had to be lanced, drained, and packed for a WEEK so it would heal. It's not fun.

I fyou have light hair on your forearms, I wouldn't bother. I don't shave mine. It's more girls with dark arm hair that shave them.
I haven't had yeast issues with shaving. If you shave, your man needs to as well otherwise it gets too pokey/ friction burny. The itching actually gets better the more you shave.

Don't shave your forearms. If you haven't done it by now I really doubt you need to. Plus it is a constant for my friends that do it… forearm stubble is weird. No offense intended, just my personal thoughts.
As for the lady bits everyone should try it! I do every now and then for a treat for the man, but usually keep a "landing strip". This keeps me from dealing with the itch that comes from regrowth near the inner bits lol. http://www.walmart.com/ip/10811015?wmlspartner=wlpa&adid=22222222227000000000&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=&wl3=21486607510&wl4=&wl5=pla&veh=semThere are many options like this link to help with razor burn or ingrowns. Both of which improve over time.. like pole burn https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
