Should I buy a 45 or a 50?
Posted by Quirkygrl16 on August 3, 2013 at 3:30 pmI found an xpole on Craigslist but it’s 45mm. I’ve only ever used 50mm, and it fits me almost perfectly so I worry a 45 would be too small? I’d go check the pole out obviously to make sure it was legit, but I worry about width. Any thoughts ?

Go for the 45!!! It is becoming the industry standard, plus your going to love the hand grip on a smaller pole!

I have a 50, 45, and 38….and actually like the 38. But if I ever perform, which is my dream someday, it’s most likely going to be on the 45.

Unless you have reeeeally large hands, 45s are great. They are not hard to adjust too.

I find 38 waaaaaaay too small. Impossible to do cross ankle or cross knee or flag. I prefer 45 for some things and 50 for others. When I learn a new move it’s usually on the 50. But it is becoming standard to use 45. The 45 is better for split grip or twisted, in my opinion. I can’t tell a difference between the two on moves I’ve mastered, honestly. But I have big hands. Not freakishly big. Just wide palms and long fingers.

Great to know split grip is easier. I’ve been have a bit of trouble with that on a 50. I’ve heard spins are harder on a 45?

I would go with the 45mm. I started with the 50mm 3 years ago and after a year got a 45mm. I find grip so much easier especially for spins my fingers used to ache with the 50mm and I had no trouble adjusting with thigh grips. I'm about 5ft 5 with slightly smaller than average hands.

Thank you ALL for clearing this up. Looks like i'm saving up for a 45 🙂

smaller poles are significantly easier for me to do spins on.
