Hello ladies! I am new to the StudioVeena Community! I watch videos on youtube frequently and have been attending pole dancing classes for a year and 3 months in Red Deer Alberta.
I am 5’11 and have my own x-pole at home. the moment i put my arms up to do a shoulder mount, my arms alomst reach the top of my pole! I’ve tried using different holds, and cant find a way to remedy it! You ladies have any ideas?
    Thanks in advance!

The only thing I would suggest is maybe doing shoulder mounts from the floor…they are hard but after a while your sm will be effortless!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I’m 5’10" and don’t have much room at home on my x pole either https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif . I do mine at home from lower down. I can SM V from a stand, but as soon as I go to pencil/super invert or do anything leggy, my feet try to punch through my ceiling… There’s no chance I can wear heels and SM at home from a stand, I have black scuff marks on my ceiling from the attempt… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif . You can crouch, or slide down like you’re doing the limbo (I like that one), or those body waves down the pole til you’re low enough, or you can do it from sitting on the floor like Roxy suggested.

At 5’11" on a 9 foot ceiling your about the same or a couple of inches better than I am at 5’5" on an 8 foot ceiling so it’s the same for me as well.

The only thing you can do is different leg positions as mentioned above or starting lower – a shoulder slide with body waves down the pole to a lower position then SM looks very nice.

I feel your frustration…I just moved and now have 8ft ceilings and I’m 5’8". I have been doing all of my Shoulder mounts and variations from a seated position on the floor. I can do it standing but I need to make sure I have stepped away from the pole so I am more horizontal going into the move then Vertical. Good luck. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

I don’t have anything to add. The tips the other ladies gave are spot on.
But on the brighter side, once you master the shoulder mount, and master going from shoulder mount straight to superman you could work on the death lay starting with your feet on the floor, instead of from a aerial shoulder mount. That must be an advantage, right? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
Just trying to add some silver lining https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif
But for now: Good luck on the shoulder mount!!
