*Sigh* Can’t We All Just Get Along?

I'm not a fan of some of the extremes on the sexy side of pole dancing (I've blogged on this topic several times on PoleSpection), but I do agree that people need to keep their negative opinions to themselves. While Karol, Alethea, of Leigh Ann's styles aren't for me and some of the moves are a little too *ahem* for my taste, it doesn't mean I think they're sluts. I watch their videos and still enjoy their talent, confidence, and their overall performance. It's a respect thing. I still love and respect all the ladies of the pole world, from the die-hard pole "athlete" wearing sneakers while they pole, to the exotic dancers that wear seven inch clear heels. It's not my place to think any less of them just because I don't agree with how they dance – and if I don't agree, I keep my mouth shut (learned that the hard way). 😉

and I'm the opposite of Journey, I love the sexier dancers they are the ones I'm drawn to. but I can watch the more pole gymnastics type and marvel at how strong they are how hard some of those things are to do.
other pole people though that leave rude comments is what makes some of us leary of posting vids though. Like myself. Yes I have a few out there. Yes I go more towards the sexy side. But I'm also not the most polished or advanced dancers out there. Bad comments from Joe Shmo wouldn't bother me. But from someone in the pole community the would.

I'm the same way, nymphdancer. I gravitate toward the sexier dancers because this is the type of style I want to develop, but I can also appreciate the passion, grace and amazing strength that goes into one of, say, Oona's performances. (I've been watching a few videos of her lately, and she is absolutely phenomenal, just not my preferred style. But I would never bash her for 'trying to strip poling of its sensuality' or something ridiculous like that. She's a talented dancer, and as a fellow poler, I am in awe of anyone that can do the stuff that we do, period, no matter what their style is.)

I tend to like a little of everything and have no real consistency in my likes. I like different dancers for different reasons. I personally don't really have much of a style myself but I hope to incorporate things I like from all genre's of pole into my bag of tricks.
I really think it's important that we continue to support and love one another. There will always be the Joe Shcmoe's who don't get it but amongst ourselves we need to uplift one another and respect each other. We don't even have to personally like every pole dancer we meet but we as a community should uphold certain values and respecting one another should be at the top of that list.

Amen to everything you said, Charley. With so much nastiness from people who just don't get it, there's no reason for fellow pole dancers to be cutting each other down.

I saw some nasty comments on one of alethea's videos. Her style of dance is sexy…. but so what? She is wonderfully strong and always executes the moves perfectly in every video of hers that I've seen. On that video with the nasty comment, personally I think that it was the camera work that made it look sleazy which is why people seem to get the wrong idea. I can't remember which performance it was, which ever championships were shown on a swiss sports channel I think….. Anyway the camera work was absolutely appalling, particularly for a sports event. Throughout the whole performance he (and I'm assuming it was a he for obvious reasons!?!) was just zooming in and out of her nether regions the entire time. It was a disgusting way to film a performance. Did exactly the same for when Felix performed. It's no wonder people think its sleazy when it is filmed like a porno. I was hugely disappointed by such rubbish filming as most of the time you couldn't even see the moves they were doing. Such a shame that a crap cameraman has been allowed to ruin beautiful girls beautiful performances
They wouldn't zoom in and out of a ballet dancers lady garden when they're doing the splits so it's about time they stopped doing it to polers!

Yeah, a lot of the official video for competitions is horrible. I don't want to see Felix or Alethea's crotch, thank you very much, I'd like to see the actual move they are performing so that I can ooh and awe over it. I have my own lady bits if I want to stare at some, thanks.
