My skin is very thin and sensitive. I don't know if it is just the way my skin is, or if it because I took Accutan for several months, but it breaks and tears really easily.

A while ago I noticed that several moves case stretch marks on certain parts of my body  -especially behind the knee, because of my knee-pit grip, and between my thighs because of thesuperman – and decided to go easy on those moves.

Now I am working on a routine, and it became much worse – the skin on my thighs actually rips open (it's not your common pole bruise – I have tears in my skin where the stretch marks are).

I am really worried – I don't want stretch marks all over my thighs! What can I do? Can I pole with long pants (from PVC or something sticky)? Will it help?

Oh wow, that sounds really intense and painful!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif

I think you should be careful and maybe ask a dermatologist if this can cause any permanent harm. And if there is something you can do to change the situation. Sorry I can't give any good advice on the matter. Might be that there is someone else on SV with more useful tips!!

    Good luck LillyBilly!!

I saw a youtube video years ago and the girl was wearing fake leather pants to help her grip the pole.

I'm not a doctor but I've heard Vitamin A. lean protein, minimizing sun exposure (particularly its damaging UV rays) and making sure skin is adequately moisturized can help strengthen & protect the skin, but if you're really concerned perhaps you should ask a doctor about it? This sounds painful https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif best of luck to you! Keep us updated!

How long has it been since you stopped accutane? I did two rounds before but the second one was in 2002, so I do not have effects from it. I did see that it’s efficacy wore off after 1 year each time, so maybe after 1 year your skin will be back to normal? I was having issues with waxing my eyebrows ripping the skin. I found that it was because I use retin-a, which is sorta like a topical accutane. I have had to stop waxing.

@sensualscimitar – I stopped several months ago, but I'm using retin-a as well now. When I took accutane its effects were horrible – I could accidentally rip the skin on my face by pulling it with my hand! I hope that you are right about the effects wearing off after a year or so. Maybe in the meantime I need to concentrate on strength-based moves that don't pull the skin so much…

i would definitely see a doc or dermatologist about that, it doesn't sound right and you don't want to do irreparable damage to yourself! regarding your pvc pants question – there is an instructor here in the UK (I don't know where you are?) that makes pole gear out of plether/pvc/type material for people who want to be a bit more covered up and it's great – you can get legging-type pants, shorts, tops, etc, anything and alot of the new girls who aren't comfortable being in hotpants wear them and stick like glue. so there are options out there if you have to go down that route!

@Hazelnut – Sounds good! I live in Israel, does this instructor sell her products online?

that's her website, she doesn't usually send overseas but I will ask her what the deal is for you! That said, if I were you I wouldn't  buy anything until you've seen a doc or dermatologist – if it's the pressure of the pole that's causing the problem, I don't know if long pants will really help or prevent it. but if it's just the friction, they should help.

you may want to just get the grip legwarmers rather than the whole leggings first – she makes them like foot or knee covers to protect your joints – so you can decide if you like the material and if they actually help, before committing to a £30 purchase!

god i sound like I am on commission lol.

    OMG, thank you!

I did scheule an appointment with my dermatologist, although I suspect I know what he would tell me (wait for the effects of the medicine to wear off). This is what he said when I asked him about other skin problems I had that were related to it.

I think I will go to someone who specialises in stretch marks treatment… :\

I believe that the friction is the problem because in other areas of my body where the skin is not pulled so much I don't get stretch marks.

I would DEFINITELY talk to a doc about how brittle your skin is so they can rule out other possibilities…

    Mine never got that sensitive.

@ LillyBilly  Perhaps the dosage was too high for you on Accutane? I was on it in 2007 and while I would get cut very easily, (ie boxes scraping me would cut me) and bruise really quickly, I could never pull off my skin…. I was on it for about 7 months…

I theorize that it took my body a year to be fully rid of the accutane. (I read somewhere that you shouldn't donate blood for a year afterwards)…

For me, being active whatsoever while on it was a big no-no…It was hard enough in the end to go to work and school… lol

I will say that 5 years later now, I bruise much more easily (I think thats a side effect for me….) but they heal pretty quickly, at least I think so… I've got a nice circular bruise on my legs from holding the superman for 3 seconds… 🙂
