Slippery Pole
Posted by cafeohle on September 9, 2012 at 1:03 pmI am cleaning my chrome pole before every use, but is there a way to make it less slippery? Almost pulled my arm out trying to do a one handed spin. 🙁 OW

Try using a steamer, like one for clothes, to clean it. An iron set to steam would work too. Make sure your pole is warmed up as well this will help with grip.

Thank you so much! Will do. I will steam the heck out of my pole!

I don't know what brand of pole you have but I have a Lil Mynx Stainless Steel and that thing is sooooo slippery. I tried a whole bunch of stuff from Windex to dish soap to vinegar. But I found that coating it in wax, like rubbing a candle on it makes it far less slippery.

I stopped by Amys the other day and couldn’t believe how slick her SS LM pole is too! After I played on it a while I got used to it,but I was thinking SS would be more like brushed SS like appliances are. To me those SS LM look like high polished chrome! If it was MINE, I would take a little sand paper to it. R u coming over Wednesday? I think I have u n Amy down for a session……lmk.

Someone once suggested http://www.amazon.com/Franklin-1980-Pine-Tar-Rag/dp/B002674G46 in another forum. although it's for your hands once it's used on the pole it helps grip on the pole- but it wipes off easy.

I have a Chrome X-Pole and I tried everything including rubbing alcohol to clean it (barely worked), a tiny bit of dishwashing liquid on a just damp cloth (worked for about 5 minutes), white vinegar (same affect as alcohol), patting it down with Dry Hands (works for a few minutes), heating the room and the pole up (didn’t seem to help much).
After trying all of that and just persisting using it on occasion, we had a nice warming day here the other day (I’m in Aussie Land and we’ve just hit Spring) and I went in, wiped it down with a microfibre cloth and rubbing alcohol and did a few climbs and all of a sudden less slippery, I think the slight humidity helped a little.
Also got my iTac2 samples today and tried them and oh my god, help on and just spun for ages, normally I would get half a spin and be sliding. Also a warm up on the pole seemed to help at times too, climbs, body rolls, just dancing around, the body heat seems to help more than anything.
Hope this helps on some way. -
thanks Katrea! I will invest in some iTac.. I have an x-pole too. I purchased some liquid pole grip from some exotic store & it sucks. What a waste! My hands seem to prespire. Has anybody tried the Dew spray?

Since you have a perspiring problem, definitely try Tite Grip! It helps sweaty hands grip on anything slippery.
