Slippy new 40mm x-pole!
Posted by blondebird on April 1, 2013 at 5:54 pmI have just bought the 40mm chrome x-pert and it is very slippy! Is it because it's new?

i have a newer chrome as well, and have had similar issues.apart from body chemistry ive found chrome likes to be warm and have humid air..hope that helps!

I’ve had my 40 for almost a year and its still slippery. Chrome works best in warmer weather I found.I’m considering getting it coated in hopes it makes it a bit more grippy. Let me know if you find any remedies!

Oh no jojodanzer 🙁 I'm wondering if it is all chrome pole sizes or just the 40mm?

I had a chrome and it was slick, so I ended up sanding it. It helped a bit, bit then I spray painted it and it was perfect grip. BUT LOOKING BACK, I wish I had just bucked it up and learned to work with it. Now, as you know, I bought another chrome so I can learn it from the start……

It is totally because it is new. Give it a lot of use, steam it, clean the heck out of it. Eventually it will get as grabby as your other chrome.

Chrome is pretty slippery in general but even more so when new…however, it is alot easier to work with when warmed up well, it likes to be babied.

I have a 40mm x-pole too and I'm very much in love with it! I think the thing with it is that you need to get it REALLY warmed up. I use Dry Hands too and as the pole gets warmer, it sometimes is even a bit too grippy. Not sure if it's the chrome+new pole+40mm combo that makes it more silppery though. I've never tried a brand new chrome 45mm.

X-Pole has a new polishing machine which has very much improved the finish on all our pole surfaces. However, after polishing any metal residue can be left which may need cleaning/working off.
X-Pole has developed a new pole cleaner X-Clean – only in the USA at present – which is superb at getting all Grips off (even Stickum) – and it will also properly deep clean your pole getting any residue off, leaving a great finish.
Tested recently here in the UK at a competition with 40 performances – and the poles being cleaned after every performance – everyone commented on how grippy the Chome poles were after cleaning with X-Clean even at the very end of the comp. And they used every type of grip aid known!!!
X-Clean will work on all metal surfaced poles, Chrome, T-Gold, Stainless, Brass etc. but do not use it on Powder Coated poles. – it will effect the surface.
Please contact our US office for further info on X-Clean.

I’ve had my x 40 for a few days now…at first I only cleaned it with alcohol…still sloppy..then I used acetone and after I took a hot wet towel and rubbed the dickens out it. Now it grips great, and I’m old, cold, and a little rusty…( just a joke, but I’ve always had grip issue with my legs..very dry)
