I am new and following Veena's advice to take breaks in between pole days and also strength training the days you pole. However, it seems like when I workout the same days that I pole, my muscles are too fatigued and everything is a struggle. Also, I have blisters on my hands which is slowing down my progress. 🙁 I don't want to wear gloves and I have been cleaning my pole with alcohol and I use a dry hand grip aid. Any advice for this issue? Also…anybody out there with a training regimen that works best for polers that strength train and do cardio in addition to pole? I want it to help me, not hurt me! Thanks Veeners.

How long have you been pole dancing and training 3 days a week on pole with strength training? Are you taking your rest days and staying off the pole? Have you tried not using any grip aids, not everyone needs them and they could cause blisters. Are you also saying you do strength training and cardio on your non pole days?

About 6 weeks, but I strength trained before poling, just not as often. Yes, I am taking a rest day in between pole days. On those rest days I usually still do some type of cardio and stretching. I have tried no grip aids and I seem to really struggle with slipping but it could also be that I am not that strong yet.

If you want to send me an email I could help you come up with a personalized plan. It would be a lot of back and forth questions so email might be easier than on the discussion board. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

When I first saw that Veena said to do 3x a week I thought wow thats a lot for a beginner. It is better to start with one day a week for a month, than 2x a week for 2-4 and than 3x a week. You have to give your body time to adjust to it. I also used to train on days that I poled but not always b/c I felt a better benefit to do it on another day. You should pole 2x a week and do strength 2x, cardio 1-2x and stretching. Pole is so intensive that you could really just do that plus a day or so of cardio. Good luck and let us know how you worked this out and your progresshttps://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

It’s no more than 3x a week 🙂 and the first 2 weeks are only strength or conditioning not pole work too.

I think the issue arrises b/c she is also in the gym. I was an avid gym goer in the neginning of my pole journey and I had to work it in like that. Now, I am getting back into it w/ 20 weeks off pregnancy and post partum it was 2x a week and felt like I could do gym 1x. Anything more and I am really worn out. If I skip the gym, could do another session of pole. Getting back into it still isn't as exhausting as it was as a beginner though. Pole gets all of those nooks and crannies around our muscles worked in a gym too. Felt floored in the beginning. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gif

Also skip the grip aid to lessen the blisters.

Yep thats why I’ll help her come up with a custom plan. There are other things like nutrition, sleep and stretching that can help reduce soreness too 🙂

Ill be waiting for your email 🙂

I love that you are doing a custom plan. What a great way to help!

I had top notch nutrition sleep from 10pm-7 am and stretching 4x per week of atleast 20 min and was still maxed in the beginning.Pole is just a totally different kind of sport and would just like to point out that it is normal to feel it so much. I was doing gym 5x( and sports 2-3 days of light basketball for an hour or two) when I started and scaled it back to 3x gym w/ pole 3x and that still was a lot. I found out that I could do many excercises to build or tone just using the pole work outs. I only really needed the gym for the stair stepper and the hot dry sauna which I lovehttps://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif But you could also do the stair thing at home or any other cardio regimine. I also want to point out that I only did 20-30 min of cardio at a time too.

You will fully adapt to it eventually and I wish you good luck!https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

No you're not alone or crazy lol. I actually remember using the phrase that "I felt like I jumped off of a mack truck when I first started! "

It's always to take days for yourself. You need down days too. Days of just rest. No pole or gym https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif
